Captain Sandy Yawn has had it Kyle Viljoen after his antics led to the departure of a crew member.
The latest episode of Below deck Mediterraneanaired on monday, november 20, following the aftermath of kyle’s big blowup with Natalya Scudder. The former friends clashed after Natalya defended Max Salvador‘s comments about identifying as part of the LGBTQIA+ community despite being straight.
Kyle then lashed out at Natalya and questioned their friendship. In the morning, Kyle joined the crew on their day off, while Natalya finished the day packing her belongings. Natalya met with Captain Sandy before the next charter to inform her that she was leaving the Mustique.
“My stomach was in knots. My problem is that in addition to the personal things at home, there are also things going on in the interior. In the crew mess, Kyle and Max had an argument in front of everyone. I tried to tell Kyle to calm down,” Natalya explained through tears. “I thought he was one of my best friends. A lot has happened.”
Noting that Kyle’s behavior was part of a larger problem, the stew added, “I didn’t say anything [before] but I had Jessica [Asai] I came over crying because Kyle came in hot the other day and yelled at her in a cabin.
Sandy was shocked when she heard what was happening. “I want to follow this because it is serious. I’m going to talk to Kyle because that’s not okay. That is bullying,” she said. “Of course I want you to stay, but nothing is worth your sanity.”
After the captain asked what she wanted to do, Natalya stood by her decision to leave.
“I feel the need to leave now because I don’t feel well. I feel safe, but I don’t feel good,” Natalya admitted, despite previously receiving an apology from Kyle. “I’ve been feeling so sad lately.”
Sandy tried not to change Natalya’s mind because she wanted to prioritize her crew. “I can’t force Natalya to stay, and I wouldn’t. I want her to feel supported in her decision, but at the same time I’m angry. The loss of Natalya will be difficult for the domestic side. We will have problems for the next charter,” she explained in a confessional. “I don’t condone Kyle’s behavior. As she described everything, Kyle’s bullying is unacceptable.”
During the filming of season 8, Kyle began to question whether his friendship with Natalya was genuine. They previously disagreed during season 7 because Natalya felt she was doing more work than Kyle. The pair tried to start over after joining the Mustique, but things soon started to fall apart.
After Natalya left the boat, Sandy called in the chef Jack Luby and main stew Tumi Mhlongo to give their opinion on the tension. Jack supported Natalya and called out his colleagues for not giving her enough support. Tumi, meanwhile, agreed that Kyle’s behavior wasn’t helping the inside work as a team.
Sandy then asked Kyle to sit with her for a chat.
“Kyle, I have ears and I have eyes. Guess who is the common denominator of every situation that has occurred on this boat? Your shouting match with Max, your shouting match with Jess and your shouting match with Natalya,” she noted at the end of the episode. “You’re the person who’s always in the shouting matches.”
The situation changed the way Sandy looked at Kyle. ‘I would never bring you back. You have no control over your emotions. This is a professional setting. You bully and you shout. I don’t want someone like you on board,” she fired back before the screen went black.
Viewers will have to wait until the next episode to find out if Kyle stays on the boat. However, before the episode aired, Natalya gave an update on where she stands with Kyle.
“He’s the devil,” she said exclusively We weekly on November 3 at BravoCon in Las Vegas. “[It’s] annoying because he trapped me and Tumi [for] a very bad start to the season. Tumi and I are on a good page now. We agree that one person definitely caused the drama, but we are doing well now.”
Below deck Mediterranean airs on Bravo Mondays at 9pm ET.
