The Congress 'protected' the Jharkhand government

Earlier, while addressing a rally in Godda district, Gandhi accused the BJP of trying to “steal” the government in Jharkhand and alleged that the Congress was intervening to protect the people's mandate.

The Congress leader claimed that his party played a major role in “protecting” the JMM-led coalition government, highlighting their commitment to oppose the ideology of the BJP.

Young people plagued by unemployment

Later, after a religious stop at the Baba Baidyanath Dham, where Gandhi took part in the Rudrabhishek ceremony, he addressed another gathering at Kuwan Singh Chowk and attacked the BJP government over unemployment.

“The youth of the country want jobs. BJP and Prime Minister Modi have spread the disease of unemployment in the country. This new disease has infected India's youth and destroyed their future,” Gandhi said in a scathing attack on the ruling dispensation.

He also emphasized on conducting caste census to get an updated picture of tribals, Dalits and backward people in the country.

“Injustice against tribals, Dalits and backward people in the country is increasing,” he said.

Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra

The Rahul Gandhi-led Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra, which began in Manipur on January 14, entered the state from West Bengal via Pakur district on Friday afternoon.

After an overnight stop at Littipara in Pakur, the yatra resumed from Sarkanda Chowk in Godda district on Saturday morning, Congress spokesperson Rakesh Sinha said, adding that the yatra will stop at Halkata in Tundi block of Dhanbad.

The yatra will cover 804 km and cover 13 districts of the state over eight days in two phases.

In total, the route will cover 6,713 km in 67 days, passing through 110 districts in 15 states, before ending in Mumbai on March 20.
