A quarter of the respondents were positive about the current economy, three quarters were negative, about 4 in 10 felt downright poor.

That’s much more pessimistic than the last midterm elections — in 2018 — when 68 percent of voters said the economy was good or excellent, and 2020, when 49 percent of respondents said the same.

Biden’s approval rating stands at 45 percent, according to exit polls, nearly identical to Donald Trump’s during the 2018 midterm elections, when Republicans lost control of the House but increased their Senate majority by two seats. But voters are twice as likely to strongly disapprove of Biden this time around as they were in 2018.
