The new drone strategy, unveiled today, aims to accelerate access to drone technology and testing Army, Navy and air force.

Drones are used in intelligence, reconnaissance, surveillance, strike and logistics functions.

The strategy is inspired by lessons learned in Ukrainewhich has since taken delivery of more than 4,000 British drones The invasion of Russia.

James Cartlidge, the Minister for Defense Procurement, said: “The conflict in Ukraine has been a breeding ground for new ways of war and we must implement those hard-won lessons.

“Being able to rapidly develop and upgrade unmanned systems will be key to gaining an advantage on the battlefield.”

This was said by the commander of Strategic Command, General Jim Hockenhull drones alone won’t win wars; if you fail to develop and use these, conflicts will “almost certainly” be lost.

He added: “This strategy offers the opportunity to transform our approach.

“The partnership with industry will be key to ensuring we can harness innovation and generate leading capabilities.”

Former Prime Minister Theresa Mei joined for the strategy launch in her constituency in Maidenhead, Berkshire.
