It is understood that no one was injured and no ammunition was involved.

A person on board told the British Defense Magazine: “No fatalities, minor fire damage to the ship but all over.”

The Royal Navy said: “A small, isolated fire on HMS Queen Elizabeth was quickly controlled and extinguished.”

HMS Queen Elizabeth is en route to Rosyth in Scotland for repairs to the starboard propeller shaft.

The aircraft carrier arrived at Glenmallan yesterday to offload ammunition before heading to Rosyth for repairs.

It comes after the flagship aircraft carrier deducted a NATO drill due to the defective propeller shaft.

The 920ft aircraft carrier – the most expensive ship built for the Royal Navy – has been plagued by bad plumbing and a leaking propeller since it first went to sea in 2017.

Last month, The Sun revealed a report who claimed Royal Navy recruitment was so poor that defense bosses dismantled two warships.

HMS Westminsterrecently renovated at enormous taxpayer expense, and HMS Argyll will be inactivated this year, with crews sent to work on a yet-to-be-released new fleet of frigates.

Although the government has limited the size of the Armed Forces, Recruitment is still below target.

In 2023, the influx into the Navy and Marines fell by 22.1 percent compared to the previous year, while the RAFs fell by 17 percent and that of the army by 15 percent.
