In October, the star shared with fans how she found out she was pregnant three months ago.

Shortly afterwards she woke up with a ‘terrible pain’ in her stomach and collapsed on the bathroom floor before being taken to hospital and discovered she had an ectopic pregnancy.

This is when a fertilized egg implants itself outside the uterus, usually in the fallopian tube, meaning a baby cannot develop and endangering the mother’s health.

She wrote: ‘This week has been one of the most terrifying and heartbreaking of my life.

‘I found out I was pregnant 3 months ago! I was shocked and surprised, but so happy that I could expand my family. Sadly, I thought I had lost the baby a few weeks later, but that was not actually the case.

‘I woke up one morning with the most horrible pain in my stomach and collapsed on the bathroom floor. I was rushed to hospital to find out that I had not lost my baby, it was in fact growing in the wrong place and was an ectopic pregnancy. .

‘The scans showed I had severe internal bleeding! It was so scary to hear that they had a blood transfusion ready. I was immediately taken to the cinema for surgery as my fallopian tube was about to rupture in a minute.’

In her post, she shared a photo of her stomach with bandages on it and a photo of herself crying in her hospital bed.

What is an ectopic pregnancy?

An ectopic pregnancy occurs when a fertilized egg implants outside the uterus, usually in one of the fallopian tubes.

The fallopian tubes are the tubes that connect the ovaries to the uterus. If an egg gets stuck inside, it won’t develop into a baby and your health could be at risk if the pregnancy continues.

Unfortunately, it is not possible to save the pregnancy. It usually needs to be removed with medication or surgery.

In Britain, about 1 in 90 pregnancies is ectopic. This is approximately 11,000 pregnancies per year.

An ectopic pregnancy does not always cause symptoms and can only be detected during a routine pregnancy scan.

If you have symptoms, they usually develop between the 4th and 12th week of pregnancy.

Symptoms may include a combination of: a missed period and other signs of pregnancy, abdominal pain on one side, vaginal bleeding or brown watery discharge, pain at the tip of your shoulder, and discomfort when urinating or defecating
