But if you want to spend a little more, many stores also offer luxury bouquets in addition to their budget options.

As always, Valentine's Day always falls on February 14, this year on a Wednesday.

So make sure you order your flowers or bouquets in time so that they arrive on the big day.

Prices can change daily as Valentine's Day approaches, so it's best to also do your own comparison to ensure you get the cheapest deal.

You can use price comparison sites such as Google Shopping and Trolley.co.uk to compare prices from different retailers.

Below we reveal where you can currently go for the best deal on Valentine's Day flowers on the high street.

Tesco

Shoppers may want to sprint to Tesco as they offer flower deals from just £2.50.

A single red rose can be purchased for £2.50, while a small bouquet of a dozen red roses costs £5.

Tesco describes the bouquet as a “classic choice for a timeless expression of love”.

If you're looking for something to keep a little longer, the supermarket sells a mini heart orchid in a ceramic pot.

If you're looking for a more expensive option, the supermarket is selling 100 roses for a whopping £40.

Aldi

The discount store has a number of different offers for shoppers looking to spend money on their loved ones.

Prices start from just €2.49 for a single red rose or €4.49 for a dozen red roses.

This is the cheapest deal we could find for a dozen red roses.

Shoppers can also buy a dozen roses for £5, or the Extra Special Rose and Lilly Bunch for £15.

This bouquet is a mix of lilies combined with scented eucalyptus and roses in deep red and pink colors.

The supermarket has also launched a new product this year – the £15 Rose Giftbag.

It comes in a water box and is decorated with an additional ribbon wrap.

MRS

While it may not be the cheapest option, M&S offers free shipping if you pre-order.

Some of the more affordable choices to choose from are the Blush Rose Abundance Bouquet and the Oriental Lily, both priced at £25.

Shoppers can also grab the standard dozen red roses for £25.

For £10 more you can get the standard dozen roses with chocolate or prosecco bundles.

Retailers that offer next day delivery

Most e-florists and online retailers offer a next day delivery service.

Many high street and supermarket chains such as M&S and Morrisons also offer next day delivery services.

The express service usually charges higher shipping costs, so always check the costs in advance.

What should I do if I am not satisfied with my flowers?

If you are not satisfied with the flowers you ordered online, there are a number of things you can do about it.

Consumer group Which one? recommends that you take the following steps to get your money back:

  • Take a photo as evidence of poor condition or damage to your flowers to substantiate your complaint.
  • If a loved one or friend has sent you flowers that arrived in poor condition or late, tell them. Otherwise, the retailer may say they don't have access to the order information and can't solve the problem.
  • If you receive fewer flowers than you ordered, you are entitled to a partial refund for the missing flowers.
