The Netherlands was depicted with decorated stars such as Thiago Silva, Raheem Sterling and Christopher Nkunku.

This isn't the first time the talented teenager has joined the senior team.

Frank Lampard, the West Londoners' former caretaker, also called the academy star at the end of last season.

That was after the Netherlands captained Chelsea's Under-14s to the Albert Phelan Cup South after a 5-0 win over Fulham in the final.

The youngster is obviously unlikely to be involved against Palace.

Academy players are usually invited to train with the first team, but that honor is normally reserved for Under-21s and Under-18s.

Pochettino is known for his investments in youth and has given opportunities to several young talents at Stamford Bridge.

Alfie Gilchrist, 20, Mason Burstow, 20, Alex Matos, 19, and Cesare Casadei, 21, have all seen time on the pitch.

This is no surprise as the Argentine tactician is working with a very young and inexperienced squad that will need time and patience to reach full potential.

Pochettino previously said: “I don't choose this team because they are young.

Chelsea boss Pochettino responds sensitively to whether he dropped Thiago Silva after his wife's tirade

“I don't want to be the coach who picks the youngest team in England.

“We are a young team. We have a good balance. We have Thiago Silva, who is 39, we have Raheem Sterling, [29]we have Nkunku, [26]And [Axel] Disasi, [25].

“The problem is not that they are young. The problem is that the team is young.

“We had [many] players newly arrived at the beginning of the season. You have to build a team.

“I always talk about the team, it's not about whether you have 20 or 19-year-olds. We have to be consistent as a team.

“Right now we may not be doing so well [balance]because we would be in a different position.”
