Clovelly: Bizarre sight spotted on iconic Sydney beach on Christmas Day
An iconic beach in Sydney’s affluent eastern suburbs has turned green as swimmers took to the surf ahead of a forecast stormy Christmas Day.
Swimmers of all ages plunged into the emerald green waters of Clovelly Bay on Monday for Clovelly Surf Life Saving Club’s Christmas pudding Egg Hunt.
During the annual event, the idyllic bay turned a bright shade of green as dozens of spectators gathered to watch the occasion.

The event comes as the sun rises, albeit briefly, after a wet and stormy start to the Christmas holidays this year.
NSW SES responded to more than 300 incidents in Sydney on Sunday, including a number of rescues in the city’s eastern suburbs.
Despite the postponement, forecasters warned of more rain and storms on Australia’s east coast on Christmas Day.
The event is one of many organized by surf rescue clubs across the country and dates back to at least 2006.
