Gautam Gambhir was asked to choose between Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi. The two-time World Cup winner came up with a rather surprising answer.

Delhi: Former India opener Gautam Gambhir has been in the news for all the wrong reasons lately. Recently, another statement from the former opener caused a stir. During an interaction with a sports website, Gambhir was asked to choose between Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi. The two-time World Cup winner came up with a rather surprising answer. He rejected both legends and instead chose England star Marcus Rashford as his favorite player.

Meanwhile, Gambhir has been in the news lately for his altercation with former India pacer Sreesanth during a Legends League Cricket match between India Capitals and Gujarat Giants. This incident did not stop on the field as Sreesanth claimed on his Instagram that Gambhir had called him a ‘fixer’ and mocked him for his 2013 IPL spot-fixing case.

In an interview during ANI Podcast with Smita Prakash, Gambhir talked about how the media always showed his fight with Shahid Afridi before every ‘India vs Pakistan’ match.

“Whenever there is a match between India and Pakistan, why do they always show my fight against Shahid Afridi? There have been so many other fights. Show something positive. Show when India won the Asia Cup against Pakistan,” Gambhir said.

“At the end of the day, it’s a numbers game, right? No matter how much traction you get on social media, it is ultimately not just about TRP. If you keep showing one thing, it becomes negative. There are many other positive things to show: India has defeated Pakistan in many important matches,” he added.
