A class 6 student was arrested for the murder of his 14-year-old classmate in Delhi’s New Usmanpur area, police said on Saturday.

Delhi News: A 12-year-old has been arrested by Delhi Police for allegedly killing his 14-year-old schoolmate in the national capital’s New Usmanpur area, officials said on Saturday. According to police, the suspect, a class 6 student of a private school, was involved in an altercation with the victim and punched him in the face, resulting in a broken nose.

The victim, a class 8 student at the same school, died due to blood loss, police said.

“The students had an argument over a minor matter outside the school and the suspect punched the victim – a class 8 student – ​​in the face,” they said.

Earlier on Friday, it was reported that the 14-year-old schoolboy died of injuries sustained in an attack by a group of unidentified assailants in New Usmanpur area on Friday.

According to police, the boy was found drenched in his own blood, with serious injuries to his head, face and left hand.

A senior official said the deceased boy’s blood was found smeared at several places along the road, the spot where the alleged fight between the two classmates took place.

“The incident took place at around 2.15 pm at Sant Ravidas Gali in Brahmpuri and police received information about it from JPC Hospital at 4.04 pm,” police said, adding that the victim was a resident of Brahmpuri and was studying in a private school.

Based on preliminary investigation, police said the boy was apparently involved in an altercation with a classmate outside of school hours, which prompted the attack on him. “The claim is being verified,” they said.

“The boy was found with injuries to his head, face and left hand. Blood stains were found at several places on the road,” an official said, adding that the injured boy was rushed to JPC Hospital where he was declared brought dead.

A case of murder was registered and after investigation and scanning of footage from CCTV cameras installed in the locality, the 12-year-old suspect was identified, an officer said.

He was arrested late Friday, police said, adding that further investigations were underway.
