Board-certified dermatologist Shereene Idriss (@shereeneidriss) took a break from her skincare-related content to provide some helpful hair growth advice.

She shared in one TikTok video an affordable way to profit from a popular product and other “secrets” she refused to keep.

The medical professional started the adventure strong with a helpful money-saving tip.

“If you're familiar with Minoxidil, you're probably familiar with Rogaine,” she said.

According to the expert, it's a great over-the-counter drugstore product that can be used over time to “extend the time your hair is on your head.”

Not many people know that there are two versions of it.

She compared the Rogaine 5% Minoxidil Foam for Women$48.10, with the Rogaine Extra Strength 5% Minoxidil Topical Solution for Men$58.69 on Amazon.

For the men's version, you can get three cans for $60, and while the female version seems cheaper, it only comes with two cans.

“Don't be fooled by the pink tax; the women's tax is not as strong as the men's tax. You need 5% and that is the men's tax,” she advised.

Shereene added that women can use either version unless they are pregnant.

She then explained the benefits of Finasteride, which usually comes in pill form “for men who are losing their hair.”

She said it carries unwanted side effects such as reduced libido and possible “man boobs.”

As a loophole, she suggested mixing Benoxidil and Finasteride topically for use on your scalp.

Finally, she advised against a popular vitamin, biotin, because it “could mess up your thyroid panel.”

Viewers appreciated her cautious advice and transparent message.

“Thank you for your content. Please keep posting,” one person commented.

“Thanks for sharing the biotin information. I tell that to all my clients when they ask about hair, skin and nail supplements,” added another.

“I liked how you mentioned pregnancy-safe pregnancies!!” wrote one fan.

“Thanks best friend! I didn't know anything about biotin or getting Finasteride topical,” said another TikTok user.
