Disney plans to open a Pixar-themed hotel on their property in Anaheim, California – complete with a special ‘Finding Nemo’ splash zone and other references to iconic movies.

Company announced Thursday that the current Paradise Pier Hotel will soon become the Pixar Pier Hotel at the Disneyland Resort.

The hotel will feature a new “Finding Nemo” water play area, a new American-style eatery and a Pixar-accented outdoor family court.

According to Disney Parks officials, construction is already underway and the hotel will officially reopen to the public in the winter.

The Pixar-themed hotel news comes just a week after Disney announced the closure of Galactic Starcruiser, the high-priced Star Wars hotel in Orlando, Florida.

Overlooking Disneyland, the 15-story hotel has already undergone major changes in recent weeks, as the exterior has been given a facelift with bright colors.

Paradise Pier Hotel will remain open to the public during the transition.

In addition to being the only fully Pixar-themed hotel in the United States, Disney Parks officials said guests will still have early access to Disneyland.

Disney offers early access to guests at their own hotels in California and Florida.

The first new section of Pixar Pier Hotel to open is the ‘Finding Nemo’ area.

“Later this summer, overnight guests will be able to splash and splash in an all-new water playground inspired by “Finding Nemo,” where the favorite fish and his friends frolic along with families,” according to a release from the company’s blog.

A standout feature in the water park is a 186-foot slide with Hank from ‘Finding Nemo’ at the top.

Sometime before the hotel fully opens under the new theme, a playing field centered around Pixar’s short films will be available to guests.

“Interactive games and imaginative free play celebrate favorite friends from ‘La Luna’, ‘Bao’, ‘For the Birds’ and ‘Burrow’,” the release states.

“And when it’s time to relax, guests can enjoy food and drink under the amorous umbrellas of ‘The Blue Umbrella,'” the release continues.

The course will also become the “ideal place” to watch the Disneyland fireworks every night.

The new restaurant, Great Maple, serves breakfast, lunch and dinner and is described as ‘upscale comfort’.

Additional details on amenities and furnishings will be offered in the coming months.

The redesign may be an attempt to match the current Pixar Pier at Disney’s California Adventure park, which originally opened in 2001 as Paradise Pier.

Pixar Pier reopened to the public in 2018 after a renovation to revolve around Pixar movies with attractions such as “Incredicoaster, Toy Story: Midway Mania, and Inside Out: Emotional Whirlwind.”

The reimagining of the West Coast hotel comes just one week after Disney announced the closure of the expensive Star Wars hotel in Florida.

Galactic Starcruiser has only been open for a year, but will close in September.

While guests routinely gave the hotel high ratings for its compelling atmosphere and presentation, it drew criticism for its exorbitant price.

A two night ‘trip’ can run up to $20,000 for a ‘tricked out’ suite.

Average rooms for a family of three or four cost about $1,200 per person.

In March, DailyMail.com reported that Disney was struggling to fill bookings and had reduced availability for the fall.

The hotel, which is located near Disney World in Orlando, Florida, caused a stir when it first opened for its price and amenities.

Included in the 2-day experience is a cabin or suite, ongoing immersive entertainment, in- and out-of-space food and drink, and admission to Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

The experience also gave guests the chance to jump into the Star Wars universe and join the resistance against Kylo Ren and the First Order.

Galactic Starcruiser also won a Thea Award for Outstanding Achievement in a Themed Entertainment Space.
