John, who chose not to share the identity of his new girlfriend, explained that because he and his partner both lost someone, they “grasp” and “understand” each other.

After her death, John paid tribute to her in a heartfelt statement he shared on Facebook.

But he said everything changed when he met his new love, who showed him he still has “a lot more to do.”

He also adopted her two children from her previous marriage, but they divorced in 2014 after nearly two decades together.
