Eamonn Holmes launches another attack on ITV demanding a transcript of the Phillip Schofield investigation

Eamonn Holmes has hit out at ITV again, demanding a transcript of their investigation into Phillip Schofield.

The presenter, 63, has been very vocal about his resentment towards the broadcaster and has taken every opportunity to blast them.

He accused ITV of not investigating Phillip’s affair with a younger colleague thoroughly enough.

Speaking on GB News on Wednesday, he said: ‘They didn’t ask for it [if he was having an affair]I know exactly what they asked.

“They need a transcript of what actually happened that day because that wasn’t a thorough investigation.”

Guest Andrew Pierce agreed with Eamonn, backing up his statement saying that ITV ‘screwed this investigation’.

He added: ‘[ITV chief executive Dame] Carolyn McCall had a duty to get to the bottom of this. It was widely rumored on ITV that this affair was going on. ITV messed up this investigation, it wasn’t even an investigation.’

Their comments referred to the Culture, Media and Sport Committee’s denunciation of three broadcasting executives in the wake of Phillip’s departure after they admitted having an ‘ill-advised but not illegal’ affair with a younger male colleague.

Among them was Dame Carolyn who admitted she had not made any inquiries and told MPs that the broadcaster pays for the star’s guidance.

However, Dame Carolyn vigorously opposed allegations that Phillip’s affair was an open secret at ITV, as the likes of Piers Morgan, James Haskell and Eamonn had suggested, the session heard.

Last month, Eamonn claimed ITV knew about Phillips’s “ill-advised, but not illegal” affair with a younger male colleague, accusing the broadcaster of a “total cover-up”.

He also claimed that ‘the authorities had to know’ because the man was being transported between Phillip’s £1 million home and the studios in taxis ‘paid for by ITV’.

He said: “Thursday was playtime when he and Phillip would go to town and then of course he stayed overnight. There is evidence that he was brought in separately the next day in cars paid for by ITV.’

Eamonn also tweeted: “Four senior members of ITV management knew what kind of man he was [Phillip Schofield] was and has never taken any action to prevent him from controlling or abusing his position over young people.”

Asked about Eamonn’s claims on Wednesday, Dame Carolyn said in response, “It’s actually libelous, let alone anything else.”

Eamonn has recently had a fraught relationship with ITV after he and his wife Ruth Langsford were controversially removed from This Morning in November 2021 after 15 years of service.

They were replaced by Friday hosts Dermot O’Leary and Alison Hammond.

Last month, him blasted ‘awakened ITV’, claiming stars who disagree with the bosses’ story have been axed.

Eamonn claimed that Dame Carolyn had “never given him a reason” for his firing, adding that his firing appeared to contain “a political element.”

During a bombshell interview, he agreed with fellow GB News presenter Dan Wootton, who suggested that anyone who questions ITV’s ‘wake story’ be pushed out the door.

He said ITV liked a ‘certain order, even if that order is corrupt’, suggesting that presenters who went against their mandate, such as Jeremy Kyle and Piers Morgan, were removed while those like Phillip were ‘protected’.

Eamonn said: ‘They like a certain order, even if that order is corrupt, it doesn’t matter if they bend the rules or break the rules, but as long as they lead to lockdown, it’s their way or the highway.

He continued, “I think the way to deal with Carolyn McCall… is to laugh [her] and laugh at their wakery because they are humorless, they are all humorless.’

He added that television director Kevin Lygo is “silent about everything” and “shouldn’t.”

However, during Wednesday’s committee, Kevin launched an explosive response, accusing the GB News host of bitterness after being suspended from This Morning.

He said: “There are quite a few people, who now have a platform with a show elsewhere or a newspaper column, or just on Twitter, who are taking a big step.

‘I noticed recently that these people have worked as presenters on ITV for a very long time, some for over a decade.

“There was never a complaint from them when they were there, if they wanted anything it was ‘More work please, we love it here, can we do more’.

Program presenters often have a slight sense of divine right to stay there forever.

“ITV as a business and program producers may have a different agenda, wanting to change and innovate, wanting to bring in new people and so on.

“It’s only real – and that’s why I feel sympathy for them – when you have to have the difficult conversation of ‘Thanks so much, it was really good, but really we’d like you to do less’.

“It’s not very fun and I understand that because this is their life, they love it, they never complained, they really enjoy it.

And their response is one of disappointment and “Oh, can’t I stay and do something?”

“That’s why I almost never tend to just “cut” but say, “Thank you so much for all the work you’ve done, you’ve done a great job, but we want to try new things, we’re not like you throw it overboard, we want you to do a little less or something else for you”.

“Because they have generally been loyal servants to ITV and they deserve to be treated that way.

“It’s not surprising when they leave they suddenly say ‘Oh I hate ITV, it’s awful’ when they were there for a decade or more reaping the rewards and enjoying the work and everyone seemed to like it.”
