It may seem a little intimidating at first, but the key is to examine each part of the scene carefully.

You may want to start from the top left corner of the image and work your way down, or perhaps do the opposite – whatever will give you more confidence!

Were you able to discover the hidden owl? If so, congratulations!

This is an African pygmy owl, a small species found only in sub-Saharan Africa and almost impossible to spot, especially when perched on a tree branch.

The images were taken by Roan du Plessis, a safari guide at a private game reserve in South Africa.

Roan, who lives and works at Beyond’s Ngala Safari Lodge, wanted to show visitors how the reserve’s trackers are highly skilled at spotting animals.

He said, “I’m taking guests luxury safaris for a living. I wouldn’t consider myself a professional photographer by any means, but the opportunities to take great photos are endless because of what I do.

“I was on safari with guests when I took these photos. I wanted to show how great the trackers are at spotting animals.”

“It is not unlikely that I could take more photos like this, as this is typical behavior for the pygmy owl, if we can find them,” he added.

Still having trouble finding the owl? Don’t worry, there’s a picture of the solution at the bottom.
