Four-day trip to visit North Korean landmarks such as the Hotel of Doom and a Stalinist-era train station is sold out
THERE'S nothing like a holiday by the sea, on the ski slopes – or enjoying a tour of the vanity projects of a totalitarian regime.
But that's exactly what tourists can expect in North Korea.
A four-day trip to the closed state next one month is sold out.
Travelers will be able to visit Kim Il Sung Square in the capital Pyongyang, where gatherings of up to 100,000 party faithful are held, the unfinished Ryugyong Hotel, known as the Hotel of Doomother memorials and monuments, and a Stalinist-era train station.
They are then transported to the Masikryong Ski Area And Wonsan-Kalma Beach Complex.
The £600 trip includes return flights and internal transfers.
Officials hope the holiday will boost tourism to the state run by a dirty despot Kim Jong Un – known for shooting his political rivals to death with machine guns.
But sun worshipers may be deterred by barbed wire on the beaches, intended to deter an invasion from a bitter enemy South Korea.
The upcoming tour is only available to Russians and 100 people have signed up.
Natalia Zinina, from Vladivostok travel agency Vostok Intur, said: “Our goal is to demonstrate the beautiful area of Wonsan to the public, travel agents and journalists.”
