A twelve-year-old girl has made a mistake by getting herself arrested by locking herself in handcuffs at a World War II museum.
Ayla McLaughlin was handcuffed for almost an hour because staff did not have a key.
Ultimately, they had to break the exhibit to free her.
Ayla suffered a pinched wrist during a family visit to the interactive Black Country Living Museum in Dudley. West Central – with the other cuff attached to a leather loop.
Her builder dad Paul, 38, told The Sun: “The museum is about picking things up and playing with them.
‘There were just some buoys there. Ayla put them on her wrist and suddenly they just clicked.
“We didn’t mind that much, but a worker said they came from the war, so no one has the key.”
After 45 minutes, an engineer secured the cuff with a G-clamp and the family received tickets to the museum’s fair, while Ayla was given an ice pack on her wrist.
Paul from Leicester added: “There was one cheer when we took them off. Ayla knows she’s difficult, so she thought it was funny.’
