Royal baby joy! Bhutan’s glamorous Queen Jetsun Pema, dubbed the ‘Kate Middleton of the Himalayas,’ is expecting her third child in the fall

The royal family of Bhutan has announced that a new prince or princess is on the way.

Queen Jetsun Pema, 33, is expecting a third baby with King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck in the fall.

The happy news was shared by the royal household on the Queen’s official Instagram bill.

The Queen already has two sons, Prince Jigme Namgyel Wangchuck, seven, and Jigme Ugyen Wangchuck, three.

It comes after the couple attended the royal wedding in Jordan earlier this month, where the Queen showed only a hint of a baby bump.

The announcement shared on social media read: ‘Their Majesties, The Druk Gyalpo and Gyaltsuen are pleased to share the news that Her Majesty is expecting their third child, due in early autumn.

Their Majesties would like to thank everyone for their continued well wishes and prayers,’ it continued.

No further details about the baby have been released at this time.

Jetsun Pema, who celebrated her 33rd birthday earlier this month, was last seen at the wedding of Crown Prince Hussein of Jordan in early June.

For the occasion, she wore a glamorous traditional outfit in gold, beige and blue, which she paired with a small blush pink clutch and a beaded necklace and matching blue and orange gemstone earrings.

She was accompanied by her sister-in-law, Princess Euhelma, who also wore blue

She also attended King Charles’s coronation in London in early May, along with her husband, who was studying in the UK.

King Jigme, the hugely popular fifth Druk Gyalpo, studied in the UK and the US and ascended the throne in 2006, aged just 26 after his own father abdicated.

Unlike his son, who is planning a monogamous marriage, the former king, who introduced democracy to Bhutan during his reign, has four wives, all sisters whom he married on the same day.

But despite his own upbringing, the current monarch has made it clear that he only intends to have one wife, whom he married on October 13, 2011, when she was an international relations student at Regent’s College London.

The match made headlines at the time because the young king was more openly affectionate with his wife than the citizens were used to – leading the pair to be dubbed “the William and Kate of the Himalayas.”

However, the king’s very public displays of affection – including kissing his wife on the cheek and holding her hand – were well received by young people, with many even choosing to follow the example of the royal family.

The Bhutanese king and queen married in 2011 – the same year Prince William and Kate got married – and have since welcomed two sons.

The couple have an unusually close family, with the King’s sister and brother married to the Queen’s brother and sister.

The Queen’s elder sister, Yeatso Lhamo, is married to the King’s brother, Prince Jigme Dorji Wangchuck.

In September, Pema and Jigme were among world leaders to travel to London to attend Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral at Westminster Abbey.
