The Harry Styles ‘superfan’ is a 78-year-old grandmother

A grandmother who is one of Harry Styles’ biggest fans has revealed her special bond with the star – including behind-the-scenes encounters and being presented with an award at the Grammys.

Reina Lafantaisie, 78, from Ontario, Canada, first saw the singer audition for the X Factor talent show in 2010.

She attended her first concert in January 2023 and has now devoted her older years to supporting him in his solo career.

After her granddaughter, Renee, 38, posted a video of her on TikTok gushing about the star, she was also spotted by the Grammy’s production team.

This led to her presenting Harry with an Album of the Year award earlier this year.

“I was so afraid of screwing up and reading the wrong name, but when I announced he had won, the room erupted in cheers,” said Reina.

As he ran onto the stage he gave me a huge hug and it was so sincere.

“I remember Renee telling me about the moment she got tickets to his show in Los Angeles and I wanted to see him so bad nothing would stop me.

‘I like concerts, I’ve seen a lot in my life, like Elvis and Rod Stewart – but he’s better than them put together in my opinion.

During the concert, Reina remembers feeling like a teenager again.

She said her heart was pounding out of her chest and she wore a pink-feathered boa as she danced to his songs.

But the Grammys were her most special night for the grandmother of five.

The video in which she praised the star received 412,000 views and 67,000 likes.

And the Grammy’s production team then invited her to the event.

Just before the awards ceremony, the grandma claims she, along with nine other superfans, were asked to explain why their favorite artist should win Album of the Year for a video.

On that day, she handed a card to one of the producers to give to Harry Styles, not thinking he would ever glimpse it or even know who she was.

But then her video played on the big screen and after accepting his award for Best Pop Vocal, he stopped to acknowledge Reina with a handshake and a kiss on the cheek.

She said: ‘I couldn’t believe my idol had recognized me, it felt like I was dreaming.

“During a commercial break, I got up to go to the bathroom and I was in line when I saw Harry again – and to my horror he came over to me.

“I couldn’t believe how humble he was when he thanked me for, in his words, my beautiful card.”

When she returned to their hotel room, a basket full of merchandise was waiting for her courtesy of Harry and his team.

Although she loves his music, she says her admiration for him stems from his attitude to life.

She said: ‘He exudes love and kindness and is generally such a good person who exudes loving energy – our world needs more people like Harry Styles.

“I listen to his music all day, his songs put me in such a good mood and his lyrics say everything you need to know about him.”

In the clip, Reina is shown speaking to her family, saying, “Don’t keep correcting me, I’m talking about Harry Styles.”

She keeps gushing about him and his personality, as someone else says, “I’m a little shocked by your obsession with Harry Styles.”

Reina confirms her opinion by saying: ‘I love him..’

She now listens to Harry’s albums every morning and is known online as ‘Leader of the Harries’.

She also receives messages from all over the world from his loyal fans and Reina says their support, and Harry of course added 20 years to her life.

She recently attended the star’s Love On Tour concert in Coventry on May 22-23, where she was invited backstage to meet him and even got a special performance of her own.

She added, “I didn’t see him walk into the walk at first, so I was shocked when he suddenly stood in front of me holding my hand while singing Peaches and Herb’s Reunited and it Feels So Good.”

It was so surreal and his smile lit up the room.

“He makes the world a better place with his ‘be kind’ attitude towards people and he is a gem of a man – so humble, kind and caring.

“He gives me hope.”
