A British health and wellbeing TikToker shared her experience of traveling on a sleeper bus in Vietnam, claiming it was ‘one of the worst nights’ of her life.

Mia Challiner’s video (@miachalliner) has been seen by more than three million people in less than a week.

She and her brother were traveling through Vietnam and decided to book a night bus to travel from one city to another: Hanoi to Hoi An.

The TikToker explained to her two million followers that the 20-hour bus ride seemed “quite fun” at the time of booking.

She filmed the experience and gave viewers a glimpse into what it’s really like on one of the infamous sleepers.

She said: ‘The average height here in Vietnam is 1.80 meters and I am 1.80 meters. I mean, I should have known this was literally a recipe for disaster.

‘Before I left for the bus station, I took a shower in the hotel spa because I didn’t know if the bus would stop somewhere’ – just to be sure, she also got ‘snacks’:

‘I say snacks, but I was literally only given Diet Coke and water, which I quickly discovered I wasn’t going to drink.

‘When booking online we could choose which seats we would have and we opted for the seats at the top, which we quickly realized was a foolish decision.’

She told viewers: ‘On the bus we had to take off our shoes and then went straight to our seats.

“Look, I didn’t expect to have no storage space at all. I’ve seen videos of people who had huge beds, but I don’t think so.

‘My room had a curtain and I was given a blanket and a bottle of water, which I did not touch.

“I actually didn’t drink for the entire 20-hour journey because I quickly discovered there were no toilets on board.”

‘I was able to sleep for a few hours with my knees bent and at twelve o’clock in the morning I was woken up by a man walking down the aisles shouting.’

The traveler filmed herself getting out of bed on the bus and following the man to the toilet.

She said: ‘In my head I was thinking, this must be a dinner break and luckily I had brought a salad before I got on the bus, but no, I found out this was just a toilet break and I ended up being p**** * * in this hole with my salad in my hand.’

She then shared a snippet of the bag full of makeup and skincare she brought with her and hoped to use on the trip.

She wondered, “What on earth was I thinking bringing my skincare and makeup on this bus? I really thought I would be doing my skincare routine in this van.

“I had my little salad and the bus had WiFi, so I FaceTimed my parents, who were literally laughing themselves.

‘The bus stopped again at 3am for another toilet break, but this time it was on the side of the road.

The TikToker concluded, “Honestly, I think I was so delusional in these clips because I only slept for a total of two hours.

‘At 6am everyone was told to get off the bus, but we were still an hour away from our destination. We were then transferred to another bus and had a two hour ride before finally boarding a grab that took us to our hotel.”

The video has over 320 comments expressing shock at what it’s really like.

One person wrote ‘There’s no way I could do a sleep bus, I need a pee every 15 minutes’ with laughing emojis.

Other viewers added ‘NO TOILETS WHAT’ and ‘this actually sounds like my personal nightmare’.

Another wrote: ‘There is no amount of money I could save that would make this worth it, 20 hours and no bathroom is insane.’

However, some found the bus to be “actually quite nice” compared to what they had been on.

Someone argued: ‘That sleep button is quite nice, people need to realize they are in different countries with different infrastructures’.

One traveler advised, “Look for the luxury sleeper buses that are sometimes only a few dollars more expensive, but only have two rows on the bus so you get more space!”

Another said: ‘I was there last week. Take the sleeper train. I brought Laman with me. It’s literally Hogwards Express. It’s an incredible experience. And has the best toilet.
