The big free streaming app is finally launching on PS5 and PS4 this year

A HUGE free streaming service with hundreds of TV shows and movies will finally launch on PlayStation later this year.

Xbox users have been able to use the app for ages, while PS4 and PS5 owners remain in the dark about a wider launch.

PS4 and PS5 users have been begging for the ITV streaming app for years

“How come you don’t have an app on PS5 yet?” one user recently tweeted.

“Any chance of an app for the PS5????” said another.

The app in question is ITVX, the premier platform for all things ITV.

ITVX is home to a number of big hit series, including Mr Bates vs The Post Office, ITV’s biggest drama in over a decade.

The broadcaster has revealed that the service is finally coming to PlayStation.

ITV has not yet given an exact date.

In their latest annual results report there is a small mention: “In 2024, ITVX will roll out on PlayStation 4 and 5.”

The announcement comes amid a number of changes to ITV’s digital offering, as all remaining BritBox subscribers are moved to ITVX and the ITV Catch Up service on Amazon Prime is closed.

ITV also recently sold its stake in BritBox International to the BBC.

The company aims to grow its paying subscriber base to 2.5 million by 2026.
