The horrible experience took place while she was having a few drinks at a London bar with colleagues.

Kate, 35, didn’t realize what had happened and took a sip of her drink.

Shockingly, one sip was enough to feel the consequences of what had happened crept in.

The journalist said the men responsible did not try to hide what they were doing and were soon clocked by one of Kate’s colleagues.

Kate said the group bought a few drinks and put them on the table before one of her friends said, “Someone’s just put something in your drink“.

Speaking on Times Radio on Sunday, she said: “We asked the bar staff to tip all the drinks and give us news but at that point it was too late. I had already taken a sip.

“Twenty minutes later I started feeling strange, very warm, I couldn’t concentrate.

“I couldn’t stand up straight, couldn’t see straight. I went to the toilet and then managed to book and get into an Uber.”

Kate reminded don’t remember her journey home or enter the house.

The next thing she knew, she “woke up on my bathroom floor at four in the morning.”

What is cheating?

Spiking is when someone puts drugs or alcohol into someone else’s drink.

It is not always obvious that your drink has been tampered with.

Spiking can come in the form of a powder or liquid when dropped into a drink.

Some people are even enriched via needles and vapors – even without their knowledge.

The political editor said she was also afraid people would believe her because she was not immediately tested.

She continued: “Because it was with colleagues I knew something wasn’t right.

‘There’s a sense of shame about it. People will think I drank too much. But that was our first drink.”

While she was still searching for answers as to why it happened, Kate bravely spoke out – as thousands are jabbed every year.

“A colleague saw them and thought it would be okay because I only had one sip, but unfortunately it was enough. It was horrible and I was lucky.

“I still don’t understand why they did it. It’s SO eerily common.”

One victim, called Martin, said: “I took my staff out for a drink, we were aware of peaks and we were drinking bottles of beer.

“I accidentally grabbed a beer from the girls and lost 48 hours.

‘Luckily I lived close by and was able to get home somehow.

“I hate to think what could have happened to any of the girls that night.”

Fellow broadcaster Jon Snow said: “I am so shocked and saddened by what has happened to you. Is there nothing that can be done?”

Sarah Owen MP wrote: “I’m so sorry Kate. That’s awful and, as you say, sadly eerily common.”

Every year thousands of people are victims of speaking, but the actual figures are difficult to prove because not every case of spikes is. reported to the police.

The first year the National Police Chiefs’ Council (NPCC) started collecting data on drinking peaks was for 2022-2023.

6,732 incidents were recorded and reported to the police, of which 4,643 involved excessive drinking.

A shocking 957 was performed with needles and the rest with unspecified means.

According to a YouGov poll, 11 percent of women and 6 percent of men said they had been enriched.
