King Felipe dresses in official robes to receive credentials during a special ceremony at the Royal Palace

King Felipe of Spain appeared cheerful as he attended a ceremony with global ambassadors to receive their credentials.

The Spanish head of state, 55, chaired the meeting without his wife, Queen Letizia, 51, who was spotted for the first time two days ago since her former brother-in-law revealed he published a ‘tell-all’ book about bombshell claims that she had an ‘affair’.

The monarch’s event took place at the Royal Palace in Madrid and was attended by, among others, the ambassadors of North Macedonia and El Salvador.

Credentials are documents that accredit a foreign ambassador as the representative and highest diplomatic authority of another country in Spain.

Felipe looked sharp in his official robes, consisting of a high-neck navy jacket and matching smart trousers.

The robe came complete with a blue and red sash, as well as patterns with intricate gold detailing.

He paired the outfit with his signature pair of black, shiny leather tie-up loafers.

The king undoubtedly made a good impression on his cronies, as evidenced by the smiling faces of the guests standing in the background.

The presentation of the letter of credence to the head of state dates back to the 18th century and has remained intact in its development to this day.

The news comes as his wife Letizia struck a very confident pose and betrayed no trace of concern when she arrived two days ago at the central headquarters of the Association for the Prevention, Reintegration and Care of Prostituted Women (APRAMP) in Madrid.

Letizia was impressed with a beautiful pink tartan sweater combined with a stately black coat during the visit to the organization that protects sex workers in Spain.

She complemented the bright tones of her sweater with glossy makeup and added a touch of blush to her cheeks and pink lip to match her attire.

The organization’s goal is for victims of sexual exploitation and human trafficking to regain their freedom, dignity and autonomy to start a life outside of sex work.

The former journalist waved cheerfully and smiled as she was welcomed into the building.

The strong public appearance comes after her former brother-in-law revealed he was preparing to publish a book about his claims he had an affair with the Spanish queen.

British businessman Jaime del Burgo shocked the world in November by claiming he and Letizia were partners before he married her younger sibling Telma Ortiz, from whom he is now divorced.

He then made the astonishing claim that he and the former news anchor talked about starting their own family and a new life together in the United States during a “secret romance” while she was still with Spanish King Felipe.

Del Burgo made many of his allegations in an explosive book he contributed to and published in November by royal expert Jaime Penafiel, called ‘Letizia y Yo’ – English for ‘Letizia and I’.

Now he has revealed he is preparing his own autobiographical book – ‘Nothing More Than the Truth’ – in another hammer blow to the Spanish royal family, which has so far responded with silence.

The lawyer and entrepreneur said in a tweet: ‘This week, 12co Books and 12co Libros were founded to publish the autobiographical ‘And Nothing But The Truth’ in 2024.

‘This means we have the entire process, editing, printing and distribution in our own hands.

‘It will be accessible in e-book format for Apple and Kindle and available for purchase in leading bookstores in Spain and Latin America, as well as in North America and some European countries.

‘It is translated into English, German, Italian and French.

‘The physical book will represent a new system in the publishing industry to prevent plagiarism, copies and leaks.’

He continued: ‘The profits from And Nothing But the Truth will be transferred in full to a Spanish charity company (to be announced)’
