The king personally honored his top royal doctors for personalized services during his treatment cancer.

Dr. Michael Dixon, head of the Royal Medical Household, and Charles’ GP, Dr Fiona Butler – known as the King’s Pharmacist – have been recognized for their personal service.

The honor comes in the wake of the King and the Princess of Wales‘s double cancer diagnosis this year.

Dr. Dixon has been appointed Commander of the Royal Victorian Order (CVO) and Dr. Butler is now a Lieutenant of the Royal Victorian Order (LVO).

Awards of the Royal Victorian Order are a gift from the King and are awarded independently Downing Street to those who are the monarch or the Royal family in a personal way.

Dr. Dixon is responsible for overseeing members of the medical profession charged with caring for the royal family.

His appointment as head of the Royal Medical Household following Charles’ accession was criticized for his outspoken support for alternative therapies such as faith healing and herbal medicine.

In 2023, Buckingham Palace described the doctor’s beliefs to The Sunday Times, saying: ‘Dr. Dixon does not believe that homeopathy can cure cancer.

‘His position is that complementary therapies can sit alongside conventional treatments, provided they are safe, appropriate and evidence-based.’

When he was Prince of Wales, Charles was a passionate campaigner for integrated healthcare, combining evidence-based, conventional medicine with a holistic approach to healthcare.

Dr. Dixon’s previous career titles include Fellow of the Royal College of GPs, Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and President of the College of Medicine.

Meanwhile, Dr. Butler as a GP at Health Partners at Violet Melchett and as Clinical Director of Brompton Health Primary Care Network.

She was awarded a British Empire Medal (BEM) in the 2024 New Year Honors for her work as a clinical leader in social inclusion, mental health and the health of the homeless in West London.

Michael Dooley is also honored as an LVO for his role as Queen Camilla’s physician.

With the help of his doctors, the king was able to visit Normandy to mark the 80th anniversary of the D-Day landings on June 6.

The honor for the doctors comes after the monarch, 75, will welcome Kate, 42, back to public duties at tomorrow’s Trooping the Color parade.

He said he is “delighted” that his daughter-in-law will be joining the royal family on Saturday and that he is “really looking forward to all elements of the day.”

Kate, who revealed in March she was undergoing ‘preventive chemotherapy’ for an unknown form of cancer, has been absent from public during treatment.

Charles, who was diagnosed with cancer in February, has recently returned to public duties as he continues to receive his own course of treatment for an undisclosed form of the disease.

The high-profile appearance to mark the king’s birthday on Saturday will also be the first time the monarch and the future queen have been seen together publicly since undergoing their respective treatments.
