She explained that the whirlwind surrounding the big win cost the couple their marriage, which fell apart within two years.

She then got married convicted fraudster Brian Deans after a lavish ceremony in St Andrews, Fife.

But this week, The Sun newspaper exclusively revealed how she kicked out her husband after he squandered her millions.

A source said: “He was throwing money left, right and centre. They could have come out bald.”

His attacks left Gillian worried that her share of the EuroMillions jackpot would be left behind.

An insider told The Sun: “Brian saw Gillian as a cash machine, nothing more.

“She kept throwing money at him in an attempt to make the marriage work.

‘She wouldn’t dream of giving £20,000 if he asked.

“But no amount was ever enough and he kept wanting more.

“She probably escaped in the nick of time.”

Meanwhile, Adrian also had bad luck in love after the breakup.

Adrian finally sold his country house – where he was dumped four times in 2021 – at a loss.

However, there was no end to the couple’s misery as their son was left fighting for his life after a horror quad bike accident.

The Sun on Sunday revealed in September 2021 that the 13-year-old had been Cameron hit by a car piloted by his sister Amy, 15, into the grounds of his father’s lavish mansion as he rode the machine.

A friend of Adriaan said at the time: “Adrian just feels consumed with guilt.

‘He took his son and daughter around the estate in those vehicles.

“His daughter is too young to drive on public roads, but because it is a private estate she did not need a driver’s license. The children watched him, just as they did when their mother was in Scotland.

“The quad bike was bought by Adrian so he could get around the estate. It was one of the ‘boy toys’ he bought after his big win.”

SAMPLE PRICE

Gillian and Adrian’s £148 million windfall in 2012 was one of the biggest EuroMillions jackpots at the time, with the couple celebrating by ordering Domino’s pizza.

Their monster prize came the same month Brian was jailed for his fraud.

He defrauded Tesco of thousands by passing on fake customer refunds at a store in Dundee.

He and a friend were each jailed for six months.

Brian immediately got to work renovating properties.
