It was a teenage nightmare rather than a teenage dream for Luke Littler on the third night of the Premier League.

The 17-year-old saw his night in Glasgow come to an early end after losing to Gerwyn Price in the quarter-finals.

It is the first time the Welshman has defeated the teenager and he did so in an enthralling match.

Price was greeted with boos from the watching crowd when he was announced on stage, but he gave them just as much back when he found the cork.

And it was the 38-year-old who had the last laugh as he won the match 6-5.

It was a confrontation that showed how good the pair are when they are on the oche.

The match went straight to the wire with the score tied at 5-5 before Price showed his experience by throwing away the teenage sensation.

Littler has been on a meteoric rise since the World Championship and his loss tonight ends a potential rematch against the man who defeated him in the final: Luke Humphries.

Price is the man who will face 'Cool Hands Luke' instead.

Littler seemed to let his frustration get the better of him as he missed his chance to win the match.

The Nuke seemed to punch himself as he grabbed his arrows from the board, muttering angrily to himself.

And it was an unusual show of emotion from Littler, who is often so calm in both victory and defeat.

He even gave a balanced view of a possible exit before the match, when he seemed to understand his chances of losing to Price.

Speaking to Sky Sports, he said: “I have played well in the last few days and it has made me ready for the Premier League.

“Normally I don't train until Thursday, but I'm confident I'll come in tonight.

“I played some good darts from Monday to Wednesday and I enjoyed it. I'm ready for tonight.

“When you play so well, you feel like everything is going well, but you can't win them all.”
