Maren Morris tries to maintain the atmosphere during her divorce Ryan Hurd.
“Our DIVORCE becomes final today,” Morris, 33, sung in a TikTok uploaded on Saturday, December 16, with a line from Tammy Wynette’s ‘DIVORCE’.
The singer tacked her quick cover of the song to the viral clip of a groom at the altar telling his bride, “I promise to kick that ass every chance I get.” The text above the clip reads: “I would have been a runaway bride.”
Morris filed for divorce on October 2, citing “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for her and Hurd’s split in documents obtained by We weekly. Their date of separation matched the date of filing, and the couple has a prenuptial agreement. They share son Hayes, 3.

A source said this exclusively Us in October, Hurd, 37, said the split was “not expected,” but the insider said the exes were “opposites,” which could have proven “difficult” in their relationship.
The “Bones” singer opened up about her divorce for the first time during SiriusXM’s The Howard Stern Show on Wednesday, December 13. “I think this year – for a lot of people, not just me – a lot of people close to me have experienced it. “I have known so many people who have been through breakups or divorce,” she said.
When host Howard Stern noting that Morris himself “went through a divorce this year,” the singer responded, “It’s happening.” … I would like to see this wrapped up a little bit.”
Morris added that she wasn’t ready to start dating yet. “I don’t have the space for that yet. But I write so much now. That’s kind of been my way of dating, just through songs,” she explained.
Morris and Hurd became friends after meeting at a writing session for Tim McGraw’s song “Last Turn Home” in 2013. Two years later, the couple started dating and Hurd proposed in 2017. The following year they tied the knot.
“[Ryan’s] I’ve always been a creative collaborator in my life, that’s how we met,” Morris told Us exclusively in 2019. “We paired up six years ago to write a song. We didn’t know each other and it just grew from there, so music has always been really woven into our love for each other, and now that we’re not just songwriters, we’re artists.
After their breakup, Morris tries not to take himself too seriously. In a November Instagram Story, she joked that she was in the middle of her “annual existential crisis,” which included the following steps: “Cut off all the hair. Adopt a dog. Go back on antidepressants.”
