Parts of Tamil Nadu will witness heavy to very heavy rainfall over the next seven days

Tamil Nadu Rain: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Sunday said that rainfall is likely to occur in several parts of Tamil Nadu over the next seven days. The IMD said a cyclonic circulation that was over the Equatorial Indian Ocean bordering the southwestern Bay of Bengal off the southern coast of Sri Lanka is now over the Comorin area and its surroundings. It is due to these meteorological conditions that light to moderate rain will occur at many places over South Tamil Nadu and at a few places over North Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal on Sunday.

Also, heavy to very heavy rain is likely to occur at one or two places over Kanyakumari, Tirunelveli, Thoothukudi and Tenkasi districts on Sunday, while heavy rain is likely to occur at one or two places over Nagapattinam, Tiruvarur, Thanjavur, Pudukkottai, Ramanathapuram, Sivagangai and Virudhunagar districts of Tamil Nadu.

The southern districts of Tamil Nadu have been witnessing heavy rainfall since the early hours of Sunday.

Light to moderate rain is likely to occur at many places over South Tamil Nadu, one or two places over North Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal on Monday. Heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely to occur at one or two places over Kanyakumari, Tirunelveli, Thoothukudi and Tenkasi districts of Tamil Nadu.

IMD has forecast heavy rainfall at one or two places in Ramanathapuram, Sivagangai, Virudhunagar, Thanjavur, Pudukkottai and Theni districts.

The weather bureau has said light to moderate rain is likely to occur at a few places in south Tamil Nadu, one or two places in north Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal on Tuesday, with thundershowers and lightning at one or two places.

Light to moderate rain is likely at one or two places over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal from Wednesday to Saturday.
