Navy Seals are accused of going woke after pride post sparks backlash

  • Elite vets react angrily to ‘woke’ messages from defense bosses
  • Comes after the Department of Defense appeared to conflate Pride and PTSD Month

Defense bosses found themselves in hot water with former Navy Seal vets after marking them with a Facebook post celebrating the start of Pride Month.

The message on the official page of the Naval Special Warfare Command was also posted on the US Navy Seal and SWCC page, according to Libs of TikTok.

It contained the key words “dignity, service, respect, equality, pride” in rainbow-colored letters, decorated with the command emblem of an eagle holding a rifle and a trident.

Efforts to restrict those who could comment failed to stem a wave of hostile responses accusing the elite unit of going ‘woke up‘ and betraying its former members.

‘This woke s*** is like a cancer and should be treated as a threat to national security,” one person wrote. ‘Way too far.’

Others were outraged by the timing, pointing out that the post was uploaded immediately after a post recognizing the June 6 80th anniversary of the D-Day landings that killed 2,500 Americans.

“This is a slap in the face to every special warfare operator who has risked their lives for our nation,” one wrote.

“I know plenty of current and former SEALs who are disgusted by this. Please repent of this loose behavior and stick to what you do best!’ added another

“So glad I got out before these bulls*** took over,” a third wrote.

The controversial post came on the day the Department of Defense made an embarrassing blunder with a Facebook post that appeared to confuse Pride Month with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder Month.

“June is PTSD Awareness Month and the DoD is committed to supporting service members and veterans affected by PTSD,” the report said.

‘If you or someone you know is struggling, help is available. You are not alone.’

But the message was illustrated with a “Progress Pride Flag” and added to a photo captioned “Celebrate Pride Month 2024.”

The Pentagon June 2014 was considered PTSD Awareness Month, a year before June was recognized as Pride Month.

The post was later deleted and replaced with a PTSD Awareness Month image.

On the Naval Special Warfare Command Facebook page, angry or mocking comments outnumbered those who viewed it positively by seven to one, but some were happy to see it there.

‘Fantastic!!’ wrote one. “Thank you for recognizing that our strength lies in our differences!”

“How can diversity send the wrong message when so many special operators have different nationalities and sexual preferences?” asked another.

The Libs of TikTok site, which shared it with its three million followers on Saturday, was scathing.

“The Navy SEALs have woken up,” it said. ‘Our elite special forces. This is terrifying.’
