The mother died tragically after her body was found in a river following a three-week hunt that gripped the nation.

Her disappearance led to mystery after her cellphone was found on a bench still connected to a work conference.

Nicholas'S pet springer spaniel willow was also found – but there was still no trace of the mother of two.

On February 20, police looking for Nicola confirmed that a body had been found less than a mile from where she was last seen.

Now, a year after her disappearance, a new documentary looks back on the tragic case.

On Channel 5's Nicola Bulley: The Disapperance That Gripped Britain, Dan Walker revealed he has kept in touch with her husband Paul Ansell.

He explained: “It would be wrong for me to say they are fine because how can you make them fine?

'The family is doing their best to live from day to day in impossible circumstances.

“The children survive in a world without their mother, a world that must be heartbreakingly difficult to deal with every day.”

In interviews recorded last year, Nicola's husband Paul Ansell told Dan about his pain.

He said: “People don't just disappear into thin air. It's absolutely impossible.

He added that the family is going through “unprecedented hell” but vowed to “never let go.”

After Nicholas disappeared, Paulus provided an emotional insight to what the family was going through.

He said at the time: “It's just an eternal hell. It's just utter disbelief. We live through this, but it doesn't feel real.

'We have to find her. She has two little girls who need their mommy home.”

It comes after The Sun revealed how TikTok sleuths are still chasing the village where she died.

At one point it was the police forced to issue a notice of distribution to keep the public at bay after armchair detectives swarmed the village.

Now Smoking residents have said that some “ghosts” come to stare at the mother-of-two's grave and the spot where her body was found.

One dog walker, who did not want to be named, said: “It's morbid.
'You see all those tragedy tourists who even come to stare at her grave in the cemetery.

'And then we have those TikTok weirdos who you saw with their cameras in the bushes or by the river.

“We wish they would leave us alone, but they still believe in these crazy conspiracy theories.

“It was great at the time that so many people came because we thought they would help find Nicola.

“But it just became too much. It's all so sad, but hard to believe that this quiet village was the center of such a media storm.”

Police revealed Nicola had “vulnerabilities” at the time she went missing.

These included “significant problems with alcohol” in the past that were caused by her “ongoing struggle with menopause.”

Nicola's struggles were has resurfaced in recent monthsconfirms the police.
