Odisha man walks into police station carrying his wife’s severed head; Man beheads mother over property dispute in UP

A man from Odisha walked into a police station with his wife’s severed head, while in a similar case, a man from Sitapur district of Uttar Pradesh chopped off his mother’s head with a scythe over a property dispute.

Crime News: Two gruesome murders were reported from different parts of the country on Saturday, with the perpetrators beheading their victims in both cases. In Odisha, a 35-year-old man allegedly killed his wife over a suspected extramarital affair, walked into a police station with her severed head and surrendered to police.

In a similar case in Uttar Pradesh, a man chopped off his elderly mother’s head with a scythe over a property dispute and fled the scene.

Odisha man cuts off his wife’s head

According to officials, 35-year-old Arjun Bagha allegedly killed his wife after suspecting her of having an affair. Bagha then walked into the Banigochha police station in Odisha’s Nayagarh district with his wife’s severed head, creating panic at the police case.

They said the accused, a resident of Bidapaju village, told police that he killed his wife Dharitri, 30, as they suspected she was involved in an extramarital affair.

A senior official said Bagha admitted to killing his wife with a sharp weapon and then cutting off her head, adding that the accused has been detained and booked for murder under Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC ).

“The headless torso has also been recovered. An investigation has been initiated,” said Laxman Dandasena, inspector-in-charge of Banigochha police station.

UP man beheads mother over property dispute

In a similar case, a 35-year-old man allegedly chopped off the head of his elderly mother in a village in Sitapur district of Uttar Pradesh on Saturday. According to police, the suspect was angry because his mother had not registered a plot of land in his name.

The incident took place in Mejapur village near Taalgaon police station, they said.

The suspect, Dinesh Pasi (35), allegedly killed his mother Kamla Devi (65) by cutting off her head with an agricultural knife, a senior official said.

The decapitated body recovered from outside their house has been sent for post-mortem, Sitapur SP Chakresh Mishra said, adding that the accused is absconding.

Dinesh, an alcoholic, allegedly killed his mother because she refused to transfer a piece of land in his name, Mishra said.

Efforts are being made to nab the suspects, the SP said.
