Prince William 'won't be shocked' by Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis' upbringing as the Princess of Wales recovers from her surgery, an insider claims.

The Prince of Wales, 41, is said to be a 'hands-on' father and is regularly seen dropping off and picking up his children at Lambrook School in Berkshire.

Last week, the royal family announced that the Princess of Wales, 41, had undergone planned abdominal surgery and was advised to recover for up to three months.

Speak with HELLO! an insider has claimed that news of Kate's operation had 'shocked' the 'close-knit' community of parents.

They said: 'He's a regular at the school gates and events and he's very hands-on as a father, so being in charge while Kate is away won't faze him.

'They often do things as a complete family and he is very confident in taking care of the children.'

Additionally, the source said Lambrook's parents will 'ralph around it' [William] to provide all possible assistance in the coming weeks.

Following the announcement, it was confirmed that Prince William has postponed a number of appointments and will not perform any official duties while his wife is in hospital.

He will also not perform any official duties in the immediate period following Kate's return home. Royal aides will provide a revised schedule for William in due course.

Neither William nor Kate will be traveling internationally in the coming months.

It is understood William wants to continue doing the school run in a bid to create as much normality as possible for Prince George, ten, Princess Charlotte, eight, and five-year-old Prince Louis, while their mother is in hospital.

He will also have the help of their nanny, Maria, and Kate's family, especially her parents, Michael and Carole Middleton, who are hands-on grandparents who are well used to having the kids sleep over or staying with them.

Kate's parents and siblings Pippa Matthews and James Middleton are already meeting and helping to support her recovery at her home in Windsor, close to their own home.

Earlier this week, royal expert Emily Nash said Kate will undoubtedly have “regular contact” with her children during her hospital stay.

She said HELLO!: 'Kate loves to Facetime the kids when she works abroad, so I'm sure they'll be in regular contact while she's in hospital.'

There are a number of events that are normally on Kate's agenda this time of year, but which in light of the recent news she apparently won't be attending for the next few weeks.
