Prince William shows his playful side as he answers quick questions in Earthshot interview – and reveals he always prefers a nice cup of English tea to coffee

Prince William revealed some unexpected favorites during a quick fire interview in Singapore.

The royal, 41, was questioned by climate journalist Sophia Li after the Earthshot Prize ceremony earlier this month.

It was then shared on YouTube, with the two discussing the awards, as well as some less expected topics.

One of the most surprising topics was whether the Prince of Wales, who admitted during the chat that he felt tired after the recent Earthshot activity, prefers tea or coffee.

The royal waited a moment before answering rather emphatically, “Tea.”

His next quick question seemed to come equally out of left field, when he was asked if he preferred spring or fall.

This answer took a little more thought from the royal family, who paused before revealing, “Ooooh….Autumn – just.”

The remaining questions were more closely related to the Earthshot Prize and related environmental issues.

When asked whether ambition or hope were more important when it came to helping solve some of the crises facing the environment, the prince couldn’t choose one.

“Both,” he replied. ‘Can I say both? I have to have ambition and hope together because that’s what the Earthshot is about.”

The next question, asking whether nature-based solutions or technology-based solutions are needed, prompted a similar response.

William said, “You’re really challenging me with this.

‘I think you have to have both for that. I don’t think we have time. I think that in addition to the technology-based solutions, you also need the nature-based solutions.

‘I don’t think it’s either or. I think we need everything in our arsenal to tackle the environmental challenges.”

Today’s publication of the interview comes after the Prince visited Manchester yesterday to mark the launch of the Royal Foundation Community Impact Project as he made the trip to The Hideaway Youth Project – lead partner of the Manchester Peace Together Alliance – in Moss Side.

During the engagement, William showed his compassionate side as he hugged the mother of a murdered teenager.

He was seen hugging Barbara Reid, the mother of Jessie James, a teenager who was shot dead in a Moss Side park in 2006, after listening to her statement on Jessie’s Wall.

In a touching moment in Moss Side Millennium Powerhouse, William was also seen receiving a friendship bracelet from a young girl.

William also met another mother who had lost her child to violence, Audrey Preston, 57, whose 21-year-old son was murdered three years ago.

She said: ‘I think it’s important that he came to Moss Side to listen to our stories. When I was told he was coming, I thought ‘wow, why would he want to come and listen to me?’.

“There are a lot of children being murdered in this area and no one really cares about the families. We are left to our own devices, so it’s good that he came, good for the community.’
