Prince William has visited the 1st Battalion Mercian Regiment for the first time as Commander-in-Chief following his appointment to the role by King Charles.

The Prince of Wales, 41, looked picture-perfect as he donned camouflage gear during his trip to the regiment in south-west Britain today.

He was shown a map of the training attack before taking part in training exercises alongside the troops, including riding in an armored vehicle.

The prince was handed the role of colonel-in-chief to the Mercian Regiment in August following a reshuffle of the royal family’s military appointments by King Charles.

William also took command of his brother Prince Harry’s old army unit, as he was appointed colonel-in-chief of the Army Air Corps, in which the Duke of Sussex served as an Apache helicopter pilot in Afghanistan.

William’s appearance comes after it was announced that the Prince and Princess of Wales will attend the Royal Variety Performance 2023, along with members of the Swedish royal family.

Kate and William will be joined by Victoria, Crown Princess of Sweden and her husband Prince Daniel, Duke of Västergotland at the Royal Albert Hall on Thursday, November 30.

They are expected to meet artists as well as representatives from the Royal Variety Charity, which supports people working in the entertainment industry who need care and help.

The event, hosted by The Chase host Bradley Walsh, will feature performances from Cher, a Disney 100th anniversary celebration and 2023 winner of Britain’s Got Talent, comedian Viggo Venn.

Casts from The Lion King, Frozen, Aladdin, Hercules and Beauty & The Beast will perform to mark Disney’s anniversary.
