'Much better than I expected,' say PS5 owners after finding a trick to get a free gift

PLAYSTATION 5 users have taken to social media to praise a feature that rewards them with free gifts.

The PlayStation Stars program was featured on a popular Reddit forum called r/playstationstars.

“I had pretty low expectations for PlayStation Stars when I first heard about it.

“After all, we already have trophies and why should I worry about strange rewards that I can view on the phone?

“But the implementation far exceeded my expectations.

“The fact that they're giving us real PlayStation currency value is a nice surprise, but my favorite part is how they celebrate PlayStation history and our involvement in it!” wrote one user.

“It's pretty cool and I see it as a bonus. The $5 store credit here and there is good too!” replied another.

Other users also confirmed that they had received a free $5 gift card through PlayStation Stars.

PlayStation Stars is a loyalty program that gamers can sign up for.

It gives gamers the chance to earn limited edition digital collectibles or points.

“By joining PlayStation Stars you can use your gaming skills to collect unique digital collectibles and earn rewards.

“Complete campaigns, earn points and display your collectibles in a digital showcase in the PlayStation App as a way to celebrate your love of gaming and PlayStation experiences,” according to the PlayStation website explains.

Another bonus is that you can join PlayStation Stars completely free.

You'll need a PS5 or PS4 console and the PS app.

If you don't have those consoles, you won't be able to participate in the challenges and win the prizes that make the loyalty program so popular.

All you have to do to start winning is take part in a PlayStation Stars campaign.

“PlayStation Stars will run periodic campaigns – make sure your account settings are 'opted in' to receive marketing messages about upcoming campaigns,” the website explains.
