More than 180 Unite union workers who make the drinks will walk out on a paycheck.

If the strikes continue, shops could be hit by a shortage of RibenaCredit:

The union claims Japanese food and drink giant Suntory, which owns the brands, has failed to honor an inflation-related pay increase.

Unite said the week-long strike from Monday at the Royal Forest Factory in Coleford, Gloucs, would impact blackcurrant supplies and energy drinks.

The union said yesterday: “As a result of the lack of loyalty to the deal, workers will strike at the factory for the first time since the 1970s.”

Unite general secretary Sharon Graham added: “Suntory is awash in cash and not giving our members a fair pay rise is reprehensible.”

Unite regional officer Michael Hobbs said: “The strike action will inevitably result in a shortage of consumers' favorite drinks, but Suntory has brought this strike on itself.”

Suntory managing director Karl Ottomar said: “We hope to reach an agreement soon so that we can focus on the future.

“Participating employees have received two pay increases since 2022.”
