Rob Burrow’s cheeky and adorable kids stole the show during Prince William’s visit to Headingley Stadium today to present the rugby legend with his CBE for raising awareness of Motor Neurone Disease (MND).

While touring the stadium in Leeds, Rob, who was diagnosed with the incurable and life-limiting condition in December 2019, told the Prince of Wales that his daughters had been practicing their bows ahead of the royal family’s arrival.

In a sweet video shared by BBC breakfast at X we saw Macy, 11, and Maya, eight, rehearsing their greetings. Both girls wore beautiful navy blue dresses, perfect for today’s occasion.

“I’m very excited to meet Prince William,” Macy told the camera. “He is a future king, it is an honor to meet him.” “Me too,” little Maya agreed with a smile in the video.

Meanwhile, their cheeky brother Jackson, four, was pictured sticking out his tongue as he watched his dad talk to the prince, and he also decided to lie down on chairs in a dressing room instead of joining in with a photo of his family with the royal family.

The Prince of Wales surprised Rob and his Leeds Rhinos teammate Kevin Sinfield by presenting them with their CBEs during a visit to the stadium.

William paid tribute to the pair’s ‘phenomenal’ efforts in raising funds and awareness for MND after the duo were appointed CBEs in the New Year Honors List for their services.

Sinfield has raised more than £15 million since his friend Burrow was diagnosed with MND, an incurable and life-limiting condition, in December 2019.

Last year, Sinfield, 43, completed the ‘7 in 7 in 7’ challenge by completing seven ultramarathons in seven cities in as many days.

Today William met Burrow and Sinfield at the rugby stadium and presented them with their CBEs in the presence of their wives and Rob’s three children.

After speaking to the two friends in the Headingley dressing room, the Prince said: ‘I’ve brought some special things to give you today.

“I checked with Kevin to make sure you didn’t want to go to London to receive this, but I brought your CBEs here to give to you today, if that’s okay with you, while you’re at home , in Leeds, surrounded by your family and friends. I thought it was a good day.”

William told Burrow: “Thank you so much and congratulations for all the inspiring work you have done Rob, you have been amazing and everyone is so proud of you.

‘We’ve been following your case and all the money you’ve raised, and you’re changing the lives of people with MND.’

Presenting Sinfield with his CBE, the prince said: “A huge, huge congratulations. It was great what you did. It is real.

‘You have greatly increased MND’s reputation. Your brotherly bond and relationship between the two of you was so wonderful to see – an inspiration to everyone to say ‘this is how we help each other’.

‘The groundswell you have created in terms of fundraising, caring for each other and for MND is enormous. Make sure you take care of your knees, your hips and everything else, but it was incredible.”

Burrow welcomed the Prince to the venue with a message recorded on an eye-gazing machine, saying: ‘I would like to welcome you to Headingley, home of Leeds Rhinos, and thank you for coming today. It’s an honor to meet you.’

After being described by the Prince as an inspiration to the MND community, Burrow said: “I can honestly say it was never my intention to be an inspiration, I just wanted to try and help other people who are in a similar situation when I was sitting.

“I’m just trying to live my best life with the cards I’ve been dealt.” He added: “I wouldn’t be here without the love and support of my wife Lindsey. She is stronger than any rugby player I have ever played against.”

After being asked about their friendship, Sinfield said, “The humor is different. It’s different in the way we communicate, but the humor is still exactly the same, it’s still there. He’s still as mischievous and funny as ever.’

Speaking of Burrow’s reputation for ‘pulling tricks’ before big games as a player, Sinfield told William of an incident in the dressing room when Burrow rubbed a Jaffa Cake on another player’s white underwear.

The prince joked: ‘I won’t tell my children Rob because that’s the kind of thing they’ll do to me.’

Burrow’s daughters Macy and Maya also presented William with three gift bags for his children.

After receiving the CBE, Burrow said: “It is an honor to accept it on behalf of the entire MND community. Days like today allow us to keep the spotlight on the disease and continue to raise awareness and, hopefully, funds to fight the disease and support those living with ALS and their families.

‘It was wonderful that His Royal Highness was able to come to Headingley to see us and it was very much appreciated. It was nice to talk to him and for me to meet my family.”
