The despot will almost certainly win another six-year term the presidential vote and remain in the Kremlin – until he dies or is deposed.

In an interview with the Russian state television issued this morningPutin emphasized that Moscow is “ready” from a “military-technical point of view” in the event of a perceived threat to national security.

He stated: “Weapons exist to use them.”

‘We have our own principles.

“We are ready to use weapons, including all weapons, including [nuclear]when we talk about the existence of the Russian state, which harms our sovereignty and independence.”

The deployment of American troops Russia or Ukraine would be seen as a US intervention in the war, he said, and would provoke a response from Russia’s nuclear forces.

Putin added: “(In the United States) there are enough specialists in the field of Russian-American relations and in the field of strategic restraint.

“That’s why I don’t think everything is gaining momentum here [nuclear confrontation]but we are ready.”

He said Russia’s nuclear forces are “on constant alert.”

Russia has since threatened to use nuclear weapons invaded Ukraine in February 2022the most recent copy of which arrived last month Putin’s annual State of the Nation address.

He accused the West of trying to “destroy” Russia and “bring us into its arms.” race“.

said Putin NATO forces were “preparing to strike out of territory”, but the consequences for “potential invaders” would be “much more tragic”.

He brandished the threat of his nuclear missile Sarmat – known as Satan-2 – and warned that the West was “in danger of nuclear conflict” if it sent troops to Ukraine.

Just 24 hours after Putin’s fiery nuclear threat, Kremlin commanders announced the test firing of a Yars ballistic missile – that can carry nuclear warheads.

Video released by Russian state media showed the 50,000 kg, 22 meter long weapon being fired from a mobile rocket launcher.

leaked Russian military records show he is now closer than ever to unleash a nuclear attack.

Putin claimed last year that Russia’s nuclear weapons doctrine outlined two possible reasons for using nuclear weapons: if an enemy launched a nuclear attack for the first time, or if “Russia’s survival as a state is threatened even if conventional weapons are used ”.

Alexander Gabuev, director of the Carnegie Russia Eurasia Center in Berlin, said the threshold for the tyrant is “quite low.”

He told the Financial Times: “They [the files] show that the operational threshold for use nuclear weapons is quite low if the desired result cannot be achieved by conventional means.”

Last month, a close ally of Putin’s and former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev said the Kremlin prepared to unleash its “full arsenal” of weapons – including nuclear missiles – in Britain, the US, Germanyand Ukraine if it were defeated in the bloody war.

Putin’s friend said: “Attempts to return Russia to the 1991 borders will only lead to one thing.

“Towards a global war with Western countries using the full strategy arsenal of our state.

“In Kiev, Berlin, London, Washington.”

He told The Sun: “There is a possibility he could use a small nuclear weapon that would destroy a bloc from Kiev or Kharkov.

“For Putin this is existential. He won’t settle for one frozen conflict, Russian antipathy towards Ukraine will continue as long as Putin remains involved current.”
