The King is determined to attend this year’s Trooping the Colour, his official birthday celebrations, if his health allows it.

Aides are already exploring ways that Charles might be able to take part within the constraints of his ongoing cancer treatment.

This could include watching the military spectacular from a podium instead of on horseback as usual, having been driven from Buckingham Palace in a carriage as his late mother used to.

No firm decision will be taken until nearer the time, given the nature of His Majesty’s condition, and it will be dependant on medical advice.

The event is due to be held in London on Saturday, June 15. But the Mail understands that planning for the occasion is moving ahead as scheduled, giving cause for optimism.

‘There are a number of key events His Majesty would love to attend coming up in the diary and this is at the top of the list,’ a source said.

Dating from the 17th century, Trooping the Colour is one the biggest military ceremonial events of the year, involving more than 1,200 soldiers and musicians plus more than 200 horses.

Usually the monarch rides down from Buckingham Palace to Horse Guards Parade via The Mall to inspect the troops.

The sovereign then rides back to the palace for the traditional balcony appearance with the wider Royal Family and flypast by the RAF.

As it stands, His Majesty has been advised by doctors not to attend events with large public gatherings after being diagnosed with an unspecified form of cancer in January.

He is currently undergoing outpatient treatment in London although he is continuing to work hard behind the scenes on state matters and makes a point of being seen in public or on camera whenever possible.

Two weeks ago there was widespread confusion after tickets for Trooping the Colour were put on sale by the Ministry of Defence advertising the presence of the King.

Buckingham Palace said planning was under way but nothing could be confirmed.

However the Mail understands that things have moved on somewhat and staff are now exploring various options to ensure that Charles can attend as long as he ‘gets the nod’ from his team.

He would be keen to ride his horse, a black mare called Noble which was a gift from the Royal Canadian Mounted Police.

But the King could watch the event from a static position, which would be considered good news by well-wishers. His mother the late Queen attended the event in a carriage after 1987.

There has been no official confirmation of whether or not the Princess of Wales will be well enough to attend.

She had been due not only to attend the ceremony but also to conduct her own review of troops on June 8 in her role as Honorary Colonel of the Irish Guards whose ‘colour’ – or regimental flag – is being presented to the King.

However the Ministry of Defence was forced to take down a web page advertising her presence after Kensington Palace insisted that it was premature.

A spokesman said only that they would announce when Kate would return to work following her lengthy recuperation from abdominal surgery in January.

At the moment the princess is still expected to return to public duties after the Easter holidays, mostly likely following her children’s return to school in mid-April, dependent on medical advice at the time.

Royal aides have always said that it will be up to the princess if she wishes to make public more details about her health, which she may do in the context of a public engagement.

Sources say that there is no pressure or hurry on her to do so and her focus remains on ‘what is important’ – her recovery and her three children.

Queen Mary of Denmark appeared 'relieved and tired' during her celebratory carriage ride after Queen Margrethe's abdication on Sunday, a body language expert has claimed.

Royal guards expressed concern that the new queen was “sad” and “gloomy” as she waved to well-wishers, with some pointing out that she was not holding the hand of her husband, King Frederick.

But body language professional Dr Louise Mahler said the Australian royal seems confident in her decision to act as queen and although the 'smile and energy are gone', the 51-year-old 'seems relaxed and possibly tired, which may be fair enough ! '.

“I don't see any slumping,” she told FEMAIL. “Apparently those carriages are terribly uncomfortable.”

The newly crowned couple marked their ascension to the throne with a public kiss on the balcony of Christiansborg Palace, much to the delight of the 100,000-strong crowd.

While they may have seemed in love, there has been speculation in recent weeks about the couple's 'fairytale romance' after Frederik was pictured enjoying a night out with Mexican socialite Genoveva Casanova. Genoveva, 47, denied any romantic relationship between herself and the royal family.

The crowd cheered loudly to welcome their new king, 55-year-old Frederik, to the balcony, before shouting even louder when his wife appeared.

The couple's children were then invited to the balcony, further delighting the crowd.

Body language experts have also said the couple did not appear “spontaneous” in their public displays of affection.

After being proclaimed king by Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen, King Frederick X was joined by his wife Mary and their four children: Christian, Isabella, Vincent and Josephine.

In an instant, Frederick turned to kiss Mary – to loud applause from the crowd gathered under the balcony of Christiansborg Castle.

But body language expert Adrianne Carter told FEMAIL the kiss was clearly something Frederik had planned, and not something spontaneous.

She said, “Frederik gives Mary a wink, which means we're in this together.

“He pulls her in for a kiss, which he tries to do a few times before it actually happens.

Adrianne also notes that when Frederick tries to kiss Mary on the side of the forehead, she “doesn't respond in any way; she just accepts it'.

The body language expert wondered whether Frederik is 'still in the doghouse' after rumors about an alleged affair with Mexican socialite Genoveva Casanova.

Adrianne said, “We watch as Frederick pulls Mary in and plants a kiss on the side of her forehead. She doesn't respond in any way; she just accepts it.

“Is Frederik still in the doghouse, I wonder?”

Rumors of an affair started doing the rounds at the end of last year, after the now king was spotted on a night out with Genoveva in Madrid.

The Mexican socialite was later forced to deny what she called “malicious” rumors after photos of herself with the crown prince emerged in the Spanish capital.

Spanish magazine Lecturas reported that they had dinner together and watched flamenco until 1 a.m.

Mary has remained tight-lipped about her husband's dinner with the socialite, and the royal couple have made a number of public appearances together.

However, there is speculation that Queen Margrethe's decision to abdicate may have been an attempt to keep Frederik's wife of 19 years on side.

Mary is incredibly popular with the Danish people, and was llast week, according to a royal author, the real 'power behind the throne' and 'King Mary' were exposed.

Trine Villemann also told Hello! that the Australian mother of four, 51, is a “much better communicator and public speaker” than her husband, Crown Prince Frederik.

Before Margrethe's daughter-in-law became queen, Danish royal author Trine said: 'Mary is truly the power behind the throne and will remain so for decades to come – there is no doubt about that.

'Frederik is a nice guy and he is very popular, but Mary is a much better communicator and public speaker. She has great skills and enormous talent, and people in Denmark call her 'King Mary'.

'Her approval ratings are also higher than the rest of the royal family… As we say in Denmark: long live King Mary!'

The emotional King Frederick promised to be a modern monarch 'of tomorrow' when he asked his 'beloved wife' and family for support during a new government.

In his first public speech after being proclaimed king, the 55-year-old father of four said, according to a translation from royal blogger Gert's Royals: 'My mother, Her Majesty Queen Margrethe the Second, ruled Denmark for 52 years. For half a century she has followed the times with our common heritage as a starting point.

“She will always be remembered as a monarch who went above and beyond the ordinary. Like few, my mother managed to be one with her kingdom. Today the throne passes.

Queen Margrethe II of Denmark showed ‘no signs of nervousness’ as she beamed at delighted crowds from her carriage en route to her abdication, a body language expert has said.

This afternoon’s events kicked off as Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary – along with their son Prince Christian – have begun to make their way to Christiansborg Castle.

A procession of cars set off with the royals setting off in a  1958 Rolls-Royce from Amalienborg.

Margrethe II followed in a carriage, waving at delighted crowds as she leaft from Christian IX’s Palace.

Both will pass through Frederiksgade, Bredgade, Kongens Nytorv, Holmens Canal and Prince Jørgen’s Courtyard on the way.

Speaking to FEMAIL, body language expert Adrianne Carter said: ‘Genuine smiles from the Queen in the carriage – full beaming smiles, she’s enjoying seeing so many people in attendance. There are no signs of nervousness from her.

The monarch, famed for her chain-smoking as well as her flamboyant sense of style, will be succeeded by her eldest son Crown Prince Frederik.

The 83-year-old queen, who took over the throne in 1972, is the longest-serving monarch in Europe following the death of Queen Elizabeth II in September 2022.

In February, she underwent a successful back surgery.

‘The surgery naturally gave rise to thinking about the future – whether the time had come to leave the responsibility to the next generation,’ she said in her speech.

‘I have decided that now is the right time. On January 14, 2024, 52 years after I succeeded my beloved father, I will step down as Queen of Denmark.

‘I leave the throne to my son, Crown Prince Frederik.’

At 2pm, there will be a Council of State at Christiansborg Palace, which Margrethe, Frederik, and Christian will take part in together with the Government and the Council of State secretary.

This is where the succession of the throne will happen, as Her Majesty The Queen will sign a declaration of her abdication.

Margrethe will then make her way back to Amalienborg, while Frederik and Mary will hold a formal reception for specially invited guests.

At 3pm, the couple will make a balcony appearance at Christiansborg Palace. The Prime Minister will then proclaim the King’s accession to the throne.

After this, the newly crowned monarch will then speak and conclude with the motto.

It will be followed by an honourary cannon salute from the Sixtus Battery – a heritage site on Holmen, Copenhagen – and the Royal Standard will then be lowered at Christian IX’s Palace (Margrethe’s home) and reraised at Frederik VIII’s Palace, where the new King and Queen are based.

Frederik and Mary will take a carriage from Christiansborg Palace back to Amalienborg, which will be escorted by a mounted squadron.

At 5pm, there will also be a transfer of the royal colours from Christian IX’s Palace to Frederik VIII’s Palace.

Preparations for today’s festivities  have already kicked off in Copenhagen as Denmark gets ready to make Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary their new King and Queen.

A live broadcast from regional channel DR1 shows soldiers marching up and down the streets as excited crowds have lined up, donning plastic crowds, Danish flag and various regalia to celebrate the low-key ceremony.

Photos from the event also show security making checks at the balcony of Christiansborg Castle, with only hours to go before the royal transferrence of power.

Stable keepers have also been readying the horses in the royal stables of Christiansborg Palace this morning and earlier today, soldiers from the Danish Guard Hussar regiment appeared to be rehearsing for today’s events.

Born in 1940, Margrethe has throughout her life enjoyed broad support from Danes, who are fond of her tactful and yet creative personality.

The monarch hit the headlines last year when she removed royal titles from the four children of her younger son Prince Joachim.

She enjoyed a close relationship with her third cousin Queen Elizabeth II, both descendants of Queen Victoria, having bonded during several state visits to each other’s countries down the decades – most recently in 2000, when Margrethe was received at Windsor.

Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen confirmed the decision in a news release that paid tribute to the 83-year-old monarch, offering a ‘heartfelt thank you to Her Majesty the Queen for her lifelong dedication and tireless efforts for the Kingdom’.

Margrethe is the ‘epitome of Denmark’ Ms Frederiksen’s statement read, and ‘throughout the years has put words and feelings into who we are as a people and as a nation’.

The six-feet-tall Margrethe has been one of the most popular public figures in Denmark. She often walked the streets of Copenhagen virtually unescorted and won the admiration of Danes for her warm manners and for her talents as a linguist and designer.

A keen skier, she was a member of a Danish women’s air force unit as a princess, taking part in judo courses and endurance tests in the snow.

In 2011, at age 70, she visited Danish troops in southern Afghanistan wearing a military jumpsuit.

As monarch, she crisscrossed the country and regularly visited Greenland and the Faeroe Islands, the two semi-independent territories which are part of the Danish Realm, and was met everywhere by cheering crowds.

Denmark has Europe’s oldest ruling monarchy, which traces its line back to the Viking king Gorm the Old, who died in 958. Although Margrethe is head of state, the Danish Constitution strictly ruled out her involvement in party politics.

Margrethe was born on April 16, 1940, a week after Nazi Germany had invaded Denmark. The occupation meant that the little princess became a symbol of hope for the Danes.

She ascended the throne on January 15, 1972, after the death of her father.

But, although she was his eldest child, she did not become heir presumptive until 1953, when Denmark’s constitution was amended to allow women to inherit the throne.

That followed a referendum in which more than 85 per cent of participants voted to allow female succession.

She was married in 1967 to a Frenchman, Henri Marie Jean André de Laborde de Monpezat, later styled as Prince Henrik. They had two sons, Prince Frederick and Prince Joachim.

Despite enjoying a long marriage of 50 years, her relationship with Henrik was plagued with controversy. Henrik stunned Danes by saying he felt he had been pushed aside in his own home by his wife.

Prince Henrik died in 2018 aged 83.

On the day she became monarch, she appeared on the balcony of Denmark’s Christiansborg Palace and pledged her allegiance to the nation.

Wearing a black veil and gown adorned with the regalia of the Order of the Elephant and her father King Frederick IX’s Family Order attached to her gown, the 31-year-old monarch stated: ‘My beloved father, our King, is dead.

‘The task that my father had carried for nearly 25 years is now resting on my shoulders. I pray to God to give me help and strength to carry the heavy heritage. May the trust that was given to my father also be granted to me.’

Becoming the first queen of Denmark since Margrethe I in the early 15th-century, the monarch blazed a trail that continues to this day.

A popular queen, she is known as the ‘people’s monarch’ thanks to the fact that, as well as doing her own shopping, she has a flourishing career as an illustrator and designer and, until 2015, defied convention by lighting up in public.

In 2021, it was announced she was hired as the set designer for a Netflix film based on an adaptation of a romantic fantasy novel by Out of Africa author Karen Blixen, one of Denmark’s most internationally recognised women writers.

Margrethe has also studied at five universities and is a committed anglophile.

She spent a year at North Foreland Lodge boarding school in Hampshire, and went on to study prehistoric archaeology at Girton College, Cambridge.

The then princess also studied at the London School of Economics in 1965.

Speaking in an interview to mark the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee last June, Margrethe told how the Queen had made an ‘enormous impression’ on her, because of the way she has ‘faced her duties, the way she is dedicated but also that she does it with a smile.’

The pair are said to have used nicknames for each other, with the Queen calling her Danish counterpart ‘Daisy’ and Margrethe using ‘Lilibet’ – the name used by her closest family.

Margrethe is known as ‘Daisy’ or ‘aunt Daisy’ because the flower of the same name is known as ‘marguerite’ in both Sweden and Denmark.

Both monarchs also shared a love of dogs, with the Queen being famous for her love of corgis – having had more than 30 in her life – and Margrethe favouring Dachshunds.

Queen Margrethe was related to Her Late Majesty through Queen Victoria, whose third son Prince Arthur, Duke of Connaught, was Margrethe’s great-grandfather and Her Majesty’s great-uncle.

Margrethe’s House of Glücksburg and the House of Windsor are also linked by Margrethe’s great-great-grandfather, Christian IX.

His daughter, Alexandra, married Edward VII, the eldest son of Queen Victoria.

He was the Queen’s great-grandfather and King Charles III’s great-great-grandfather.

Her Majesty visited Denmark for the first time in 1957, when Margrethe’s parents – King Frederick IX and Queen Ingrid were on the throne.

Charles III has given new insight into his first full year as king by sharing footage from his ‘Carriage Cam’ with Queen Camilla during the State Opening of Parliament in an upbeat video that rounds off the royal family’s 2023 year.

His Majesty is seen talking to his wife and waving to the crowd in a rare glimpse inside their horse-drawn carriage after it left Buckingham Palace and drove down The Mall on November 7 this year.

The images form the core of the King’s first tweet of 2024, in which he discusses the past 12 months and his duties in Britain and the Commonwealth.

There are also a number of clips of the Prince and Princess of Wales – but nothing of Prince Harry, who attended his father’s coronation in May without his wife Meghan Markle. Prince Andrew is also absent from the montage set to a fast-paced dance tune.

Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, Manchester Mayor Andy Burnham and other political leaders are present in the montage. Charles’ trip to Kenya this year, which the Palace considers a success, is also extensively discussed, as are Camilla’s public engagements, including with Brigitte Macron. England Manager Gareth Southgate is also in attendance.

The King’s official Twitter account today tweeted: “Thank you for all the warm welcome across the country and around the world in 2023. I wish everyone a very happy 2024.”

The film begins with the ‘Carriage Cam’ footage and then continues with a series of other high-profile events.

There are numerous clips of the King and Queen at the coronation in May, both during the ceremony in Westminster Abbey and on the balcony of Buckingham Palace afterwards.

The Prince and Princess of Wales, the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh, Princess Anne and other leading royals are featured in the montage of images.

But there is absolutely nothing of Prince Harry, Meghan Markle or their family. Prince Andrew is also absent, but he and his brother went to Sandringham for Christmas this year with his ex-wife, the Duchess of York.

The King and Queen beamed at well-wishers yesterday during their last church visit of 2023.

The couple spent the festive period with family in Sandringham. While other members of the royal family are now set to celebrate the New Year elsewhere, Charles and Camilla attended a Sunday morning service at the Norfolk estate. Both wore warm winter coats and carried umbrellas as they walked to St. Mary Magdalene Church, smiling, waving and chatting with the crowd.

They were greeted by the Bishop of Norwich, the Right Reverend Graham Usher, and the Reverend Canon Dr Paul Rhys Williams. Camilla opted for a light blue coat, which she combined with a matching hat. She completed her elegant ensemble with black heeled boots and leather-look gloves.

The king wore a long, dark brown coat and blue trousers, brown dress shoes and a white shirt.

They will stay at Sandringham until early in the new year before traveling to Birkhall, their Scottish retreat, for the rest of the month, the Mail understands. They can then look forward to a busy 2024, with visits to both Canada and Australia.

Their latest trip to Saint Mary Magdalene comes after the royal family celebrated Christmas Day with a traditional service at the church. For the second year in a row, the disgraced Duke of York was allowed to walk with the family, while his ex-wife, Sarah, Duchess of York, made her first public appearance in years for the service.

Bihar News: Days after an aircraft fuselage got stuck under a bridge in Bihar, a similar incident took place in the state’s Bhagalpur district on Sunday when a truck carrying a railway carriage met with an accident, causing massive traffic disruption in the area.

Officials said the accident took place near Lohiya Bridge, close to Bhagalpur railway station, from where the train coach was being transported.

“The incident took place when the truck carrying the bus lost control and hit one of the railings of Lohiya Bridge,” police said, adding that no injuries were reported in the incident.

“A restaurant will be opened in the railway complex near the station. The agency responsible for opening the eatery was busy moving the bus. Essentially it was a traffic accident.”
Vikas Choubey, DRM (Malda Division), told reporters.

The incident attracted a large crowd of curious onlookers, resulting in significant traffic congestion on nearby roads. With the help of local police and railway officials, the traffic jam was eventually resolved, police said.

Plane stuck under bridge

On Friday, a scrapped aircraft being transported from Lucknow to Assam in a truck got stuck under the Piprakothi Bridge at Motihari in East Champaran.

According to reports, the aircraft, an Air India Airbus A320, was being transported by road from Assam to Mumbai when its fuselage got stuck under Piprakothi Bridge in Motihari, bringing traffic to a standstill on the busy road.

Footage of the incident shared on social media platforms showed the plane stuck under the bridge and later freed with the help of locals and some truck drivers.

According to reports, the plane was transported on the trailer of a truck, but it failed to pass under the low bridge and became stuck. When locals heard about the strange incident, they flocked to the area and started clicking selfies even as police and other authorities arrived at the spot in an attempt to dislodge the plane under the Piprakothi Bridge.

In an attempt to free the aircraft, the trailer’s tires deflated and the aircraft was freed from under the bridge.
