A Texas man was arrested in Salt Lake City on Sunday after boarding a Delta Air Lines flight without a ticket by using a photo he took of another passenger’s boarding pass while they weren’t looking, according to reports. according to court documents.

The man, Wicliff Yves Fleurizard, 26, faces one felony count of stowawaying on ships or aircraft, according to a complaint filed Monday in U.S. District Court in Utah. He was being held at the Salt Lake County Metro Jail, according to Salt Lake City police.

After boarding a Delta flight bound for Austin, Texas, on Sunday, Mr. Fleurizard went to the restroom at the front of the plane and remained there until the flight was fully boarded and the doors were locked, according to federal complaint.

Mr. Fleurizard then went to the back of the plane and went to a restroom, according to court records. As he emerged, a flight attendant noticed there were no available seats just as the plane was about to taxi to the runway, court records show.

The flight attendant asked Mr. Fleurizard where his seat was, and he said it was 21F, which was already occupied, the complaint said. After flight attendants could not find Mr. Fleurizard on their manifest, they realized he was not authorized to be on the flight, and the plane returned to the gate, the complaint said.

Mr. Fleurizard told police he was snowboarding in Park City, Utah, and had to go home to see his family, according to the complaint. He said he received a Southwest Airlines “buddy pass” from a friend, the complaint said.

Mr. Fleurizard told police he had tried to take a 3 p.m. flight to the Southwest on Saturday, but the flight was full, according to court documents. He then tried to fly home southwest at 6 a.m. Sunday, he said, but that flight was also full, according to court documents.

The Transportation Security Administration said Wednesday that Mr. Fleurizard was screened through security at Salt Lake City International Airport without incident on Sunday, using a photo ID and a boarding pass.

Surveillance footage on Sunday showed Mr. Fleurizard taking pictures of several passengers’ phones in a Delta Air Lines boarding area when they were not looking, the complaint said. The footage showed Mr. Fleurizard using his phone to board the Delta flight.

Mr. Fleurizard “admitted he made a mistake and was just trying to get home,” the complaint said.

The FBI said Wednesday it is investigating the episode but declined to provide further details.

As of Wednesday afternoon, no attorney for Mr. Fleurizard had been listed in the court filings.

Delta Air Lines said in a statement Sunday that it was “cooperating with law enforcement and relevant federal agencies regarding an investigation into an unticketed individual.”

In recent months, there have been a number of similar cases where passengers have been able to board flights in the United States and abroad without a ticket.

In February, a woman boarded a flight in Nashville and flew to Los Angeles without a ticket. In November, a man got through security at Copenhagen Airport in Denmark and flew into Los Angeles International Airport with only Russian and Israeli ID cards in his bag.

A Delta Air Lines pilot was sentenced Tuesday to 10 months in prison after pleading guilty this month to showing up for work with a half-empty bottle of Jägermeister in his luggage and a blood-alcohol level more than twice the airline limit, authorities said. said.

The pilot, Lawrence B. Russell Jr., 63, of Fulton County, Georgia, was scheduled to fly a Boeing 767 from Edinburgh International Airport to Kennedy International Airport in New York City on the morning of June 16. a statement of the judiciary of Scotland.

Mr Russell arrived at baggage control 80 minutes before departure in his pilot uniform and lanyard, but his bag was rejected by the X-ray scanner when it was found to contain liquid, the statement said. Inside were two bottles of the German digestif Jägermeister, one of which was opened and “just under half full”, Sheriff Alison Stirling, who sentenced Mr Russell, said at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Tuesday.

Mr Russell, who admitted he had been drinking the night before, failed a breath test and was arrested, Sheriff Stirling said. A blood test showed he had “not less than” 49 milligrams of alcohol in 100 milliliters of blood, she added. The limit for pilots is 20 milligrams, and the limit for motorists in Scotland is 50 milligrams or 0.05 percent. That limit in the United States is 0.08 percent. Mr. Russell was charged that day and, according to the affidavit, responded, “I’m terrified.”

Neither Mr. Russell nor his attorney could immediately be reached for comment Tuesday evening. Public records show he was charged with driving under the influence in 1985 but was released on parole. He was diagnosed with a severe alcohol use disorder but was in remission after successfully completing a recovery program in Georgia, Sheriff Stirling said.

Mr Russell, who has been married for 35 years and has two sons, lost his job after his arrest in June and received half his salary while on long-term disability, she added. Sheriff Sterling said Mr Russell intended to apply for a new medical certificate after serving his sentence, with the expectation that if granted he would be reinstated to his former role as a pilot. “Your employer has been very supportive,” she said.

Anthony Black, a spokesman for Delta Air Lines, said in an email that the company “was aware of this incident and removed the pilot from service while it conducted a thorough investigation in collaboration with Scottish authorities.” He would not provide further information about whether Delta was aware of Mr. Russell’s drunk driving record or say whether Delta would rehire him.

below federal lawpilots must wait up to a year after being convicted of a drug or alcohol crime before applying for a license or other certificate from the Federal Aviation Administration.

Sheriff Stirling said she had taken into account his remorse and the fact he had pleaded guilty at the earliest opportunity when determining the length of Mr Russell’s sentence. But she noted that “detention is the only appropriate response given the seriousness of your offense.”

A Delta pilot has gone viral after giving a wild speech outlining the incredibly strict “rules” passengers must follow during a flight — while calling himself a “servant leader.”

The man, whose identity is not known, sparked fierce reactions after a video surfaced on Instagram in which he shared the huge list of rules he “had to obey” everyone on the plane.

The clip showed the pilot communicating his orders to travelers via the plane’s intercom system.

He began to describe himself as the “servant leader” and “the captain of the ship.”

His orders include “obeying” seat belt signs, listening to flight attendants and being kind to other passengers

He explained that this meant he would be ‘responsible’ for the ‘safety’ of everyone – and ‘above all’ ensuring that those on board followed the ‘rules’.

“Everyone please look up to your servant leader,” he said. ‘Today I get to serve as captain of the ship.

‘What does that mean? It means that I am responsible for the safety of my ship, my crew, my passengers, my cargo, but above all the rules.’

The man then began listing the commands – including “obeying” seat belt signs, listening to flight attendants and being kind to other passengers.

“I want everyone to obey the seat belt sign during the flight, for your safety and the safety of everyone around you,” he continued.

“I want everyone to follow the orders and instructions of my flight attendants. And finally, I ask that we all have respect for each other.”

He concluded with: ‘Are there any questions?’

It appeared the plane was headed to Atlanta and was delayed, but it is unclear where it departed.

A travel blogger named Jay Robert uploaded the video to his Instagram account this week, where it quickly went viral, but it is unknown who originally filmed it.

“I wonder if this Delta Captain is ex-military?” he captioned it, adding, “[Credit] unknown.’

People quickly flooded the comments section with their thoughts on the pilot’s behavior, and many were quick to condemn him.

‘Sure. Unnecessary and narcissistic,” one person wrote. Another added: “Total cringe. I bet he’s fun at parties.’

‘This captain has abused his power. He treated passengers like toddlers. Oh and “my flight attendants” – oh boy, you have some arrogance issues,” someone else said.

‘Please stop being a total control freak and just fly the plane. Have some faith in your flight attendants,” read a fourth comment.

A fifth simply said: ‘This irritates my soul.’

However, others supported the man and defended him from the haters.

“I love this captain. As a former Delta flight attendant, I loved that we had so many pilots who came from the US Air Force,” one person explained.

“They may not have the best bedside manners, but they are qualified.”

“Have you seen how some passengers treat the flight crew these days? I don’t mind a strong warning if it keeps the peace and there’s no shenanigans on board,” someone else agreed.

Another user commented: ‘I wish the captains did this more often. It IS necessary, especially in this day and age.”

“Well said Captain,” praised another. ‘No nonsense on his flight. I’m tired of all the arguments between Karen, Becky and Ken on the plane.’

“This is the energy I expect from all captains I fly,” read one comment.

The decision by a major US airline to fly to a second Australian city has raised hopes of more competition and lower prices for fliers.

Delta Air Lines has announced it will operate a four-class Airbus A350-900 from Los Angeles to Brisbane and back three times a week from December 4.

The airline has been lured to Queensland by the state government by offering $200 million from its growing aviation investment fund. It is expected to attract 114,000 visitors, who will spend an estimated $208 million.

Major US carrier Delta Airlines has announced it will fly from Los Angeles to Brisbane and back in December

Although flights are not initially scheduled until March 25, there are hopes that the route will be commercially viable and lead to permanent daily departures.

The major US airline already operates a flight from LA to Sydney.

With United and American Airlines already operating flights from Brisbane to LA, this means the three largest US airlines will be competing with Qantas on the route.

Air Canada also flies to North America from Brisbane.

It is hoped that increased international competition will lead to more local competition and lower ticket prices.

Delta Air Lines Senior Vice President of Network Planning Joe Esposito said the new route was exciting.

Deputy Prime Minister and Trade Minister Cameron Dick said the deal would bring many Americans to the Sunshine State.

“We know Americans are eager to escape the frigid North American winter and enjoy Queensland’s beautiful weather, beaches, hinterland and culture,” he said.

“The increased service should also put downward pressure on airline prices while providing more opportunities for Queensland’s exporters to tap into the world’s largest economy.”

Brisbane Airport CEO Gert-Jan de Graaf said the city was “charting unprecedented territory” and “witnessing an unprecedented level of interest” from North American markets.

It is hoped the influx of visitors from America will generate revenue for Queensland and lead to more competition on flight prices

“I’m not sure if it’s the upcoming Olympics or the insatiable appetite for Bluey, but right now Brisbane is the ‘must add’ destination for North American airlines, and this opens up a world of possibilities,” he said.

Bringing more competition to Australian airspace has been a hot issue lately.

Last October, the Senate held an opposition-led inquiry into the Albanian government’s controversial decision to ban Qatari airlines from operating more domestic flights in Australia.

Former Qantas CEO Alan Joyce has made no secret of his lobbying of the government on the issue of Qatar Airways getting more flights to Australia.

He told a Senate cost-of-living inquiry on August 28 that Qantas “presented its case to the government” and “made representations” in a letter in October 2022.

Transport Minister Catherine King formally rejected Qatar’s request in July 2023, but denied remembering any lobbying by Qantas.

A furious debate has emerged over whether or not children should be allowed in airport lounges, after a passenger described a very testing experience.

In a post titled 'Children in the [Delta] Sky Club…', one Reddit user explained that they 'generally' don't have a problem with kids in the lounges.

But during a recent trip to New York's La Guardia Airport, they were unimpressed by the behavior of some children and decided to vent their frustrations.

Commenting on the experience, they wrote: 'When your kids are running around like banshees, getting in the way, cutting in and out of the food lines and putting their little paws on everything, screaming and singing, will you please just… them take it to one of LGA's other beautiful new eateries?

“If I can hear your kid all the way from the other side of the living room, you're not doing it right.”

The Reddit post quickly gained traction, with more than 200 comments in 24 hours.

Many commenters agreed with the original poster, noting that it is the parent or guardian's responsibility to keep their children under control.

One, a grandparent, wrote, “My grandchildren travel with me regularly and behave because they understand that their behavior is reflected directly on me.

'The whole problem is that parents (the adults) are not parents.

'It is no different at the Sky Club [lounges] or on board, then go to your local restaurant and not be able to enjoy a meal because a child is acting out, causing a nuisance and the parent(s) are not correcting the bad behavior. We've probably all experienced that situation.'

Another commenter with three children revealed how they take their children to airport lounges, but they have strategies in place to ensure their children don't impact other travelers.

They explained: 'We are bringing our three children ([aged] 7, 6 and 3) in the lounge all the time. THi, I've been going with us since we started traveling with them (when our oldest was just under a year old).

'We are the family that does their best to find the quietest corner. Our kids wear headphones and are always fed with an adult… I've never understood why some parents let their kids run wild. We are all tired.

Many commenters agreed with the original poster, noting that it is the parent or guardian's responsibility to keep their children under control

Many commenters agreed with the original poster, noting that it is the parent or guardian's responsibility to keep their children under control

'Children can be unpredictable and allowed to take up space. HOWEVER, there is a standard of behavior in an “upscale” environment. And yes, we have had to do 'shifts' taking our kids to run up and down the terminal during longer layovers.”

And one vocal Reddit user spoke out in favor of parents with children using airport lounges, writing: 'You should use the damn Sky Club, good grief.

'Parenting is hard enough, don't hinder yourself by denying yourself the resources you are entitled to.'

However, one commenter bucked this trend and stated that lounges are not suitable for children.

They opined: 'I often wonder why parents take their children to places that are clearly intended for adults who have virtually nothing to offer their children. Isn't it the easiest solution to limit children altogether?

'It would be different if Delta had a children's area with toys and a children's menu, a kind of glorified family waiting area. You know, like at the gate. Then I just wouldn't worry about the lounge. But it's sold to us as a premium experience.”

And from the same camp, someone else wrote: 'I especially hate it when they let their kids watch movies on an iPad at full volume without headphones. NO ONE WANTS TO HEAR THAT!!”

Like most airport lounges, the Delta Sky Club is open to travelers of all ages, but travelers under 18 must be accompanied by a “responsible, supervising adult.”

A Delta flight had to turn back an hour after takeoff after maggots from the cabin fell onto terrified economy passengers.

Delta flight DL133 from Amsterdam to Detroit had to return to Schiphol yesterday after a suitcase containing rotten fish broke open in the luggage compartment and maggots began falling on the unsuspecting passengers.

After the plane landed, the passengers were taken off, the cabin was thoroughly cleaned and the suitcase was placed in a bag to be burned.

A passenger named Kelce told DailyMail.com that Delta staff identified the owner of the rotting suitcase and detained him on the plane after the rest of the travelers had left the plane.

It is unclear whether the owner has been fined and whether action has been taken against him.

In compensation, travelers received 8,000 air miles, hotel room compensation and a $30 meal ticket if they were delayed overnight, Kelce further said.

A Reddit user who reportedly sat a row away from where the incident occurred later said that the fish was wrapped in newspaper.

“My family and I sat in line right in front of the maggots. The lady right behind us told the flight attendants that the maggots fell on her head. Uhm. I turned around and they were rocking around on the chair.

'But they moved us further forward. One of our carry-on bags was right next to the disgusting one, so when I went to get it at the end of the flight after thoroughly checking it, the passenger in question was still there and not leaving the plane.

'Some consequences, but it is unclear what. Apparently it was also wrapped in newspaper. Absolutely disgusting.'

But this isn't the first horrific incident to happen on a Delta flight this year.

Last month, airline passengers were shocked after a fellow traveler pooped in their pants during their flight – leaving the feces 'like peanut butter' all over the seat.

One of the disgusted travelers took to Reddit to share his dismay over the situation, which quickly went viral.

The Reddit user explained that on Christmas Eve, they were on an early Delta flight from Birmingham, Alabama, to Atlanta, Georgia, with their eight-year-old daughter and started smelling something “horrible” about twenty minutes after takeoff. '

They initially feared their daughter might have had an accident, but the youngster insisted this was not the case.

The traveler said the horrible smell lingered for the rest of the flight – and it was only after they landed and disembarked that they discovered the cause.

On their way out, the Reddit user said they noticed one of the seats, about eight rows away, was “covered” in “s**t.”

They said the fecal matter had engulfed the entire area, including the bottom and back of the seat.

Putting Delta Air Lines to the Test is Editor at Large Nicky Kelvinwho flies a state-of-the-art Airbus A330-900neo for $305.

He told the Mail: 'Check-in was easy and smooth and once on board I found the seat to be very comfortable and supportive, with nice padding.

'Legroom was good and there was a large entertainment screen on board, larger than you would expect from a budget product.'

When the flight was underway, Nicky was given a blanket 'that was soft and warm'

Is there anything else on the 'first impressions' list?

“There were multiple charging ports,” Nicky added.

Once the flight was underway, Nicky was given a blanket “which was soft and warm” and headphones, although he recommends a Bluetooth dongle so you can use your own.

There was a wide selection of complimentary drinks available, Nicky explained: water, tea, coffee and fruit juices, along with spirits and beer

He continued: 'There was a wide choice of complimentary drinks available – water, tea, coffee and fruit juices – along with spirits and beer. I also got a free snack. There was no substantial free food available during the flight, so I went for a snack box for $12 [£9.50]which made for a hearty little meal.”

Final verdict? Nicky approved Delta's economy offer.

He said: 'Overall I was very impressed with the flight, especially the range of free drinks and snacks, as well as full size drinks. The meals you could buy on board were also fresh and tasty.'

Testing American's ability was senior marketing manager Liam Spencer.

He paid $428 to fly economy in an Airbus A321T.

The advantages?

He told the Mail: 'Check-in was clear, clean and pleasant. The self-service checkouts were quick and easy to use.

'In the cabin, the seats immediately felt like a significant step up from those of low-cost airlines such as Spirit or Ryanair. The chair is large and comfortable, with an adjustable headrest.

'There was a fair amount of recline with plenty of legroom and a handy charging port attached to the seat and tray.

'In addition, although small, there was an entertainment screen on board, always a nice bonus when flying economy. The screen also has a headphone jack and a port to charge your phone.

'The flight had a free dining service, which became available 40 minutes into the flight – always nice to have free food in economy class.

'I wasn't given a pillow or blanket, but I was given headphones for the onboard entertainment.'

Liam concluded it was a 'very good flight' – apart from his dining experience. “The food was unfortunately disappointing and dry,” the travel guru complained.

A Kansas City Royals minor leaguer has been hit with federal charges after allegedly assaulting multiple passengers during a 10-hour Delta Airlines flight.

Darnel Silver Collins, an outfielder, began causing trouble within an hour of a 10-hour flight from Amsterdam to Salt Lake City on January 21, according to legal documents filed on January 22.

Documents revealed that Collins physically eavesdropped on several passengers, followed them, spit on them and “physically intimidated” a flight attendant.

The crew was also forced to move others sitting near the professional due to his behavior.

DailyMail.com confirmed that Collins is a professional baseball player, a team spokesperson said they hope he “gets the care he needs.”

According to the legal complaint, Collins began becoming “loud and disruptive” within the first hour of the flight as he began continuously tapping passengers without their consent.

The minor league player's behavior then “escalated” during the flight when he began following passengers throughout the plane, a Federal Joint Terrorism Task Force officer reported.

A flight attendant decided to intervene and pushed Collins away to protect a female passenger who he allegedly kept touching and following.

According to the documents, his behavior quickly became aggressive when he allegedly grabbed a female passenger as she left the restroom.

Crew members and other passengers had to intervene so he would release the woman he forcibly snatched, the documents show.

As his behavior continued, “approximately eight passengers had to be moved from the area around him to 'avoid further problems,'” the complaint said.

He then got down on his knees and spoke to the passengers so aggressively that 'Flight Attendant 1' intervened because they thought it was going to get physical.

Another eight to 10 passengers were placed in the back of the plane to avoid him, but he soon joined them and “intentionally spit” on another passenger and struck “at least” two people with his saliva, the legal document said.

Collins was soon restrained with zip ties, but even then he found a way to continue touching others, the documents show. A flight attendant had to keep an eye on him for the past two hours

He then approached a flight attendant, swore at her continuously and became “physically intimidating,” the complaint said.

His violent actions made the flight attendant feel “unsafe” and said she was “thankful there was a cart between them because otherwise she felt he could have contacted her,” the documents revealed.

Collins was soon restrained with zip ties, but even then he found a way to continue touching others, the documents show.

'Collins continued to loosen his seat belt and get up and cause problems even after being restrained, to the point where three seat belt extenders were connected together to be put around his mid-section to keep him in place for the rest of the flight' , legal documents said.

During the last two hours of the grueling flight, a flight attendant had to watch as Collins tended to other passengers, the affidavit said.

He was arrested and charged with obstructing a flight crew and assault by beating, beating and wounding. For the assault charge, he could face a fine or six months in prison, or both. He could face up to 20 years in prison for hurting the flight crew.

A hearing for him is expected to be held on Thursday.
