A Kansas City Royals minor leaguer has been hit with federal charges after allegedly assaulting multiple passengers during a 10-hour Delta Airlines flight.

Darnel Silver Collins, an outfielder, began causing trouble within an hour of a 10-hour flight from Amsterdam to Salt Lake City on January 21, according to legal documents filed on January 22.

Documents revealed that Collins physically eavesdropped on several passengers, followed them, spit on them and “physically intimidated” a flight attendant.

The crew was also forced to move others sitting near the professional due to his behavior.

According to the legal complaint, Collins began becoming “loud and disruptive” within the first hour of the flight as he began continuously tapping passengers without their consent.

The minor league player's behavior then “escalated” during the flight when he began following passengers throughout the plane, a Federal Joint Terrorism Task Force officer reported.

A flight attendant decided to intervene and pushed Collins away to protect a female passenger who he allegedly kept touching and following.

According to the documents, his behavior quickly became aggressive when he allegedly grabbed a female passenger as she left the restroom.

Crew members and other passengers had to intervene so he would release the woman he forcibly snatched, the documents show.

As his behavior continued, “approximately eight passengers had to be moved from the area around him to 'avoid further problems,'” the complaint said.

He then got down on his knees and spoke to the passengers so aggressively that 'Flight Attendant 1' intervened because they thought it was going to get physical.

Another eight to 10 passengers were placed in the back of the plane to avoid him, but he soon joined them and “intentionally spit” on another passenger and struck “at least” two people with his saliva, the legal document said.

Collins was soon restrained with zip ties, but even then he found a way to continue touching others, the documents show. A flight attendant had to keep an eye on him for the past two hours

He then approached a flight attendant, swore at her continuously and became “physically intimidating,” the complaint said.

His violent actions made the flight attendant feel “unsafe” and said she was “thankful there was a cart between them because otherwise she felt he could have contacted her,” the documents revealed.

'Collins continued to loosen his seat belt and get up and cause problems even after being restrained, to the point where three seat belt extenders were connected together to be put around his mid-section to keep him in place for the rest of the flight' , legal documents said.

During the last two hours of the grueling flight, a flight attendant had to watch as Collins tended to other passengers, the affidavit said.

He was arrested and charged with obstructing a flight crew and assault by beating, beating and wounding. For the assault charge, he could face a fine or six months in prison, or both. He could face up to 20 years in prison for hurting the flight crew.

A hearing for him is expected to be held on Thursday.
