FORTNITE was offline this morning and players were eager to get back online and play a match.

After the recent extended downtime to update servers for Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 2, players were concerned about downtime extensions.

This is a much smaller update, so players can already get started with the game.

Here’s everything you need to know about Fortnite downtime Tuesday March 19, 2024.

Why was Fortnite offline?

Fortnite was offline due to planned maintenance, meaning there is no problem with the servers.

Epic Games has updated its servers for the Fortnite v29.01 update, which will add a number of changes to the game.

This is one of the faster updates we’ve seen, with servers returning in just over an hour.

What has changed in Fortnite?

A number of new items and weapons have been added to the game, in keeping with the Myths and Mortals theme.

The epic weapon, Chains of Hades, can grab enemies and pull them towards you while dealing heavy damage.

A new standard weapon has also been added, the Drum Gun, which can be found in the standard loot.

Shield Bubble Jr is a new item added that is similar to the Shield Bubble, but smaller.

The base has also been added for the introductory map editors for both Rocket Racing and Lego Fortnite, although players don’t have access to them yet.

This feature has been rumored for some time, but there is no news yet on when the feature will be available.

Electronics retailer Currys has launched its first-ever game, “Trash Tycoon,” in the Fortnite universe.

The free virtual experience aims to inspire Generation Z to make better choices when disposing of unused, unwanted or even broken technology.

And it challenges players to compete against each other on a mission to mine and recycle as much waste as possible, for valuable in-game and real-life rewards worth more than £1,000.

It comes after the brand’s survey of 1,000 Gen Z adults found that 75 percent currently have unwanted technology in their home, despite not using it.

And it’s estimated that the British generate 60,000 tons of electronic waste every Fortnite.

Moira Thomas, sustainability director at Currys, said: “I am optimistic about the future of e-waste.

“We know that people, especially Generation Z, want to recycle their old technology, but there is a lack of knowledge about how to do that responsibly.

“That’s why we’re confident that Trash Tycoon will break down barriers and help people better understand the issue of e-waste, in a language they can relate to and draw inspiration from through the hugely popular game Fortnite.”

The game’s Tycoon map serves as a visual representation of the 880 million unused and broken tech items hoarded in British homes, by showcasing a virtual world made entirely from e-waste.

The retailer’s research also found that more than a third (35 percent) are delaying recycling e-waste due to a lack of information.

Nearly a quarter (23 percent) don’t understand how to dispose of old technology, and 26 percent admit they simply forget to recycle something.

And about half of Generation Z (44 percent) would be encouraged to recycle more technology if a financial incentive were provided.

TV presenter and DJ Tyler West, who was the first to play Trash Tycoon, said: “Trash Tycoon is literally a game-changer.

“Gaming has definitely been my ultimate escape and night in activity.

“As a Fortnite fan, it’s refreshing to play a map that tackles real-world issues.

“It’s time we make gaming a force for good. I can’t wait to dive in with my team and see how I can take my foundation to the next level while recycling tech waste.”

Environment Minister Robbie Moore added: “I hope tackling e-waste in the virtual world can help younger generations understand the importance of responsible waste disposal in the real world.

“It is vital that we stem the tide of e-waste, with 155,000 tonnes of electrical waste being thrown into the bin every year.

“This is why we have put forward new proposals to make it easier for households to recycle their electrical appliances and encourage the move to a more circular economy.”

With each new season comes a new Battle Pass, which means there are new outfits for people to earn.

This season is called Myths & Mortals and all the new skins fit the theme of Greek mythology.

These are the new skins available in Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 2.

Cerberus – Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 2

Although Cerberus, the guardian of the underworld, is usually depicted with three heads, this does not work with Fortnite’s character models.

So this is a humanoid version of the dog, basically a single dog head on a man’s body, with two smaller heads on the shoulders.

You can grab your Cerberus skin as soon as you purchase the Battle Pass.

The immortal version of the skin, which looks the same but with a gold flavor, can be unlocked at level 8.

Blazing Fire Cerberus can be claimed by completing the three-week weekly missions.

Aphrodite – Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 2

Aphrodite is the goddess of love and beauty, and her standard attire shows her in a white and gold garb.

This is the second outfit you can unlock, which you can grab at level 14.

There is also a variant of the Immortal Aphrodite that shows her completely pink, with a heart-shaped motif, and you can unlock this at level 20.

All other gods have a third variant, and we think Aphrodite’s third is the mysterious skin you can claim after getting all the other Battle Pass rewards.

Poseidon – Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 2

The god of the sea is one of the few gods in Fortnite that is not human and looks more like a blob of water.

Poseidon’s regular green skin is available starting at level 26 of the Battle Pass.

You can also grab a purple variant Immortal Poseidon at level 32.

The final version of Poseidon’s skin is orange and you can grab it once you’ve claimed all the other Battle Pass rewards.

Medusa – Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 2

The Gorgon with snakes for hair is not nearly as ugly in Fortnite as Greek mythology would have you believe.

You can pick up her default design by reaching level 38 of the Battle Pass.

A variant skin that is pink and black is also available at level 46.

Unlike the others, a third variant hasn’t been revealed, but this is the other option for the secret skin.

Zeus – Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 2

Zeus rules Olympus and Fortnite has completed his look with a belt of grenades.

You can pick up his regular skin at level 54 of the Battle Pass.

The army commander style Conqueror Zeus with a more modern look is available from level 63.

There is also an Immortal Zeus, but unlike the other Immortals, this one is only available after all other rewards in the Battle Pass have been unlocked.

Artemis – Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 2

Artemis is the goddess of wildlife and the hunt, and she has a cosmic design on this battle pass.

Her regular design can be picked up after you reach level 70 of the Battle Pass.

There is also an immortal Artemis, an orange version that can be taken after level 78.

The final white and pink Elysian Artemis variant can be picked up after collecting all other rewards in the Battle Pass.

Hades – Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 2

The final skin available through the regular Battle Pass track is Hades, ruler of the Underworld.

His regular outfit with a gas mask-like design is available starting at level 86.

Immortal Hades in black can also be picked up at level 94, and its final form, Lethean Hades, is available after you claim all Battle Pass rewards.

Korra – Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 2

There is another secret skin for the Battle Pass that will be available but will launch mid-season.

This skin features Korra from Avatar: The Last Airbender and ties in with the Fortnite x Avatar event.

We also expect an Aang skin to launch alongside the event.

EPIC Games just announced that thousands of Fortnite players are eligible for refunds.

Those who purchased certain emotes in the Fortnite in-game Item Shop can get their money back.

Fortnite has added two emotes to the platform two years in a row, called Side Shuffle and Jubi Slide.

Players noticed that the emotes were extremely similar, with the main difference being the music playing in the background.

Users complained about the similarity of the two emotes, calling it a new kind of “reskin.”

Epic Games has listened to the complaints and says it will issue a refund of 400 V-bucks to all users who purchased both emotes.

This is roughly the equivalent of £4/$5, so it’s quite a bit of money that players have missed out on.

The Jubi Slide, the newer emote added to the store, was removed just a few hours after release after complaints about the similarities.

It appears that the Jubi Slide will not be re-released as a standalone emote, although Epic Games has not announced this.

However, Epic Games has revealed that a new bundle will be released containing both emotes in a two-for-one style deal.

The pack, which sells for 600 V-Bucks in the Item Shop, includes both Side Shuffle and Jubi Slide.

If you purchased both emotes separately, you don’t need to do anything if you want to receive a refund.

You should receive your 400 V-Bucks the next time you log into Fortnite, although you’ll still keep both emotes.

FORTNITE has been offline for much longer than anyone expected, and fans are eager to get back into the swing of things.

If you’re affected by Fortnite server outages, here’s everything you need to know about when Fortnite will come back online.

When will Fortnite come back online?

Epic Games has just extended Fortnite’s downtime, meaning it will be offline for much longer than expected.

The official Twitter reads: “Hey everyone, we encountered an unexpected issue during our maintenance and need to extend downtime by at least 8 additional hours.

“We apologize for keeping everyone waiting longer than usual before heading into Chapter 5 Season 2 of Battle Royale.

“The team is working on this as quickly as possible and we will provide another update when we have more information.”

The downtime started at 8am GMT and was expected to end around 2pm GMT.

With the extension of the maintenance period, we expect Fortnite will not be back online until 10pm GMT at the earliest.

Why is Fortnite offline?

Fortnite is preparing to kick off Chapter 5 Season 2 in Battle Royale mode with some big changes.

Downtime is always planned at the start of a new season, but this has been extended longer than usual.

There will be at least eight additional hours of downtime while Epic Games addresses the unexpected issue.

What can you expect in the Fortnite update?

The new season is called Myths & Mortals and will focus on Greek mythology.

A number of skins for the Greek gods have been added to the game and new landmarks, such as Mount Olympus, have been added to the map.

There was a Fortnite live event the weekend of Saturday March 2, 2024 until Sunday March 3, 2024.

A Titan Hand emerged from the ground holding Pandora’s Box, covered in several chains.

Players worked together to break the chains of Pandora’s Box and open it to unleash evil.

Here’s all the new content coming to Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 2: Myths and Mortalsand how long you have to improve your Battle Pass.

Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 2 start time

The new Myths & Mortals season begins March 8, 2024after the maintenance period required to update Fortnite with the new seasonal content has been completed.

The downtime for the new season started at 8am UK time / 3am ET, with matchmaking turned off half an hour earlier.

Based on previous updates, the Fortnite servers for Chapter 5 Season 2 should be back online 12pm UK time / 7am ET on March 8.

Fortnite Myths & Mortals Battle Pass

As usual, the new season comes with a brand new Battle Pass, allowing players to unlock Olympian god skins, including Zeus and Artemis, as well as other Greek mythical characters, such as Cerberus and Medusa.

An Avatar: The Last Airbender collaboration will bring a Korra skin to the Battle Pass later in Chapter 5, Season 1.

The new Battle Pass costs the usual 950 V-Bucks to unlock, and players can earn up to 1,500 V-Bucks back by playing the game.

Players can continue their Battle Pass until May 24, 2024, 7am UK time / 2am ETwhen Chapter 5, Season 2 ends.

New Greek Myth Skins in Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 2

The new Myths & Mortals season comes with seven new skins based on Greek gods and mythical characters, which players can obtain by leveling up their Battle Pass.

Earning XP in all Fortnite modes, including the more recent Lego Fortnite, Rocket Racing, and Fortnite Festival, will count towards the unlock rewards.

Here’s the outfit of each Olympian you can get with the new Battle Pass:

• Zeus
• Hades
• Aphrodite
• Poseidon
• Artemis
• Cerberus
• Jellyfish

In addition to the above skins, Korra from Avatar: The Last Airbender will also be added as a Battle Pass reward later this season.

New locations in Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 2

The latest Myths & Mortals season brings four locations to the Battle Royale map, including the brand new one Mount Olympus POI.

Here are all the new focuses in Chapter 5, Season 2:

• Mount Olympus
• Brawler’s battlefield
• Grim Gate
• Underworld

South of Mount Olympus, in the Brawler’s battlefield POIyou can challenge the Greek god of war, Ares.

The Grim Gate is where the mythical Cerberus waits and guards the entrance to the city Underworld.

Fortnite myths and mortal weapons

Myths & Mortals comes with five new weapons, including the Thunderbolt of Zeuswith which you can wield the power of the king of the gods.

The weapon is a mythical item and can be found in chests or by defeating Zeus himself.

Other new weapons include the Gatekeeper shotgunwhich fires three rounds and has a Mythic variant you can get from Cerberus.

Hades’ Harbinger SMG is very accurate on the first shot, but has tremendous recoil and blooms as more shots are fired.

The Hunter DMR of Aremis is a long-range rifle, while Ares’ Warforged AR offers high DPS at the price of significant knockback.

Are Fortnite servers offline?

Around 8:00 a.m. GMT (3:00 a.m. ET), thousands of users worldwide began reporting problems connecting to servers to play the game, according to Down detector.

The downtime will begin promptly at 8:00 a.m. GMT (3:00 a.m. ET) so game developers can bring the latest season to life.

Fortnite is expected to be out of action until 1:00 PM GMT (8:00 AM ET).

While fans of the game should have been prepared for Chapter 5, Season 2’s scheduled maintenance, it has taken some players by surprise.

“Squad is desperately trying to prepare for another Fortnite match while the servers are down,” said one user shared on X (formerly Twitter).

Another wrote: “Omg Fortnite is offline [right now] What am I going to do with myself.”

Why is Fortnite offline?

Fortnite often stops working when creators introduce new features.

And this latest outage is no different.

The game goes through this process with every major seasonal update, which happens approximately every 10 weeks.

So gamers are well practiced at turning off the controllers for four to six hours at a time – with the promise of rewards afterwards.

Each Seasons introduces new themes, weapons, map locations and more lore to the game’s storyline.
