A plus-size influencer has exposed the brutal reality of traveling while overweight, revealing she can’t lower her food tray and has to ‘swing’ sideways down the aisle.

Alicia Gilbya size 4X model, regularly documents her daily life and style choices on her Instagram account, where she has amassed more than 105,000 followers.

But in a recent clip, the Canadian content creator veered away from fashion-focused content to expose the painful reality of flying on a plane as an overweight person in a very candid TikTok post.

In a viral video, which has attracted more than 359,000 people so far, Alicia said she had to use a seat belt extender while traveling and sit next to the “smallest” person in her family.

She captioned the clip: “I’m plus size and on a plane. Did I miss something?’

On board the plane, the influencer said: “I have a large size and of course I can’t put the tray down on the plane.”

The clip then cut to another angle, showing Alicia sitting in an airplane seat next to a young boy.

She noted that because she is overweight, she has to sit next to the “smallest” person in her family.

The content creator added that it is very uncomfortable for her to travel because the armrest “digs” into her hips.

“I’m plus size and on a plane I naturally have to shuffle sideways down the aisle,” she said as she walked through the plane.

Finally, Alicia said that because of her size she always needs a seat belt extender.

Despite the clip achieving viral success, Alicia disabled the comments section.

This isn’t the first time a plus-size influencer has discussed their issues with flight accommodations.

Jae’lynn Chaney, 25, from Vancouver, Canada, has also opened up about the difficulties she faces as a ‘fat’ person on airlines.

She candidly documented her struggle to fit into airplane seats and bathrooms, revealing that she often has to buy two seats to travel “comfortably.”

She previously demanded that the Federal Aviation Authority and airlines give overweight fliers as many free seats as they need to fly comfortably.

She also revealed that she wants airlines to be forced to refund overweight passengers for any extra seats they have to buy when booking to accommodate their size.

“As plus-size travelers, my partner and I have unfortunately experienced discrimination and discomfort while flying,” she wrote in her petition.

She added: “All plus-size passengers should be provided with an additional vacant seat, or even two or three seats depending on their size, to meet their needs and ensure their comfort during the flight.”

Turning her attention to refunds, she added: “Airlines should offer a refund to plus-size passengers who purchase additional seats independently. This should be a simple process that can be accessed online or through customer service.”

Marie Osmond said she was a grandmother to her eight grandchildren.

The 64-year-old singer made his appearance on Wednesday The Drew Barrymore Show and said that having grandchildren is even better than having children.

“I thought I would never love anything as much as I love my children,” she told Barrymore, 49, on her show about her surprise at how much she enjoys being a grandmother.

“Oh my god, grandkids are like having kids [but] on steroids,” she said. “I mean, it’s just so cool. I can’t even tell you.’

The Paper Roses hitmaker – who told DailyMail.com exclusively earlier this year that she tries to stay in shape for her family – said that as a mother she has a lot more responsibility, but as a grandmother she can do “anything I want”.

“And as a parent you have to guide them,” she explained. “You’re not their friend; you are their parents.

“If you’re the grandma, who cares? “I can do anything I want,” she said.

In the talk show she talked about remarriage to her first husband Stephen Craig Sr. and said they prioritize spending time with their grandchildren.

Osmond and her first husband share son Stephen Jr., 40.

She shares seven children with her ex-husband Brian Blosil. She and her second husband share four daughters: Jessica, 36, Rachael, 34, Brianna, 25, and Abigail, 20.

They also share sons Brandon, 27, Matthew, 24, and Michael, who committed suicide at the age of 19.

Osmond is the grandmother of a total of eight grandchildren.

Earlier this year, in February, she exclusively told DailyMail.com that she keeps fit to keep up with them.

Shares of Reddit opened up about 38 percent on their first day of trading on Thursday, in a sign of investor eagerness that paved the way for more tech companies to hit the stock market this year.

The social media company’s shares traded at $47 on the New York Stock Exchange after being priced at $34 in its initial public offering on Wednesday, and continued to rise. The pop estimated Reddit’s market cap at about $9.2 billion, down from the $10 billion it was valued at on the private markets three years ago.

The listing is a milestone on a long road for Reddit, which was founded in San Francisco in 2005. The site is best known for its message boards, where users can gather on forums known as subreddits to research and discuss everything from parenting to power washing to Labrador retrievers. Over the years, the company has struggled with many of the issues faced by the largest social media companies, such as how to moderate your opinions and make money.

“The process of becoming a publicly traded company has made us so much better,” Reddit CEO Steve Huffman said in an interview Thursday morning. “We deliver better products, faster.”

Reddit’s performance indicated that public markets need more technology offerings after stock market collapses due to rising interest rates and economic uncertainty. Just over 100 companies went public in the United States last year, about a quarter of the number of companies that went public in 2021, according to data compiled by Renaissance Capital, which manages IPO funds.

Reddit’s IPO wasn’t guaranteed to be a success. The company is growing but unprofitable and has faced questions about the strength of its advertising and data licensing businesses.

On Wednesday, artificial intelligence company Astera Labs soared 72 percent on its first day of trading on the stock market, which combined with Reddit’s debut could encourage other private tech companies to go public. These include Rubrik, a cloud data management company; SeatGeek, a ticket provider; and ServiceTitan, a home services software company.

A key question for tech companies considering an offering is whether they should moderate their valuation expectations. Many private tech companies that raised money during a euphoric investment climate have since raised money at lower valuations.

Against this backdrop, some larger, well-funded tech companies, such as payment processor Stripe, appear to be in no rush to go public. Stripe, based in San Francisco, said last month that it had purchased shares from its employees, allowing them to partially cash out their stake in the company without an initial public offering

Reddit’s first day of trading was also a test of whether it would become a “meme stock,” which is when a company gains a flock of followers on social media and its shares can be promoted or pilloried for the financial gain of its followers. One subreddit, WallStreetBets, has developed a powerful role in the financial markets as a promoter of meme stocks, serving as a place where traders gather, exchange tips and talk.

In its public offering, Reddit offered up to 8 percent of its shares to Redditors, the people who use the site regularly, in an unusual move to reward some of its most loyal users.

Typically, large financial institutions can buy into an IPO the night before the company goes public. These institutions are the ones that stand to benefit the most if they sell to the high interest of retail investors the next day.

“It’s a way to create loyalty,” said Jay Ritter, a finance professor at the University of Florida. “The company says, ‘Look, we want the people who have been successful to get some benefits.'”

That also entails risks. Shares of Robinhood, a stock trading and investing app that decided to sell as much as a third of its offering to retail traders through its own app during its own IPO, closed down 8 percent on its first day of trading when it went public in 2021 went.

One of the biggest winners from Reddit’s IPO was the Newhouse family, the media dynasty that controls Condé Nast through its holding company Advance Publications. The Newhouses could reap a windfall of about $1.4 billion from the roughly 30 percent stake they own in Reddit. Other major shareholders including Tencent, the Chinese internet company, and Sam Altman, the CEO of OpenAI.

“We did it, mom,” Alexis Ohanian, one of the site’s co-founders, said on social media after on Thursday. Mr. Ohanian, who previously served as chairman of Reddit’s board of directors, is no longer a principal shareholder or has any operational role at the company. He and Mr. Huffman parted ways after disagreements over how discriminatory language should be moderated on the website.

Thursday from the New York trading floor, Mr. Huffman pointed to the improved speed at which the company has added new features and improved tools over the past year for moderators, the thousands of volunteer users who oversee the site’s subreddits.

These changes — and the specter of more to come — are still a source of tension for many of Reddit’s more than 70 million daily users. Many have worried about how the pressure of quarterly reports and the demands of Wall Street could affect the site’s operations, saying profits on products could be detrimental to what Reddit, Reddit, has created.

“It’s a natural feeling, and one we share,” Mr. Huffman said in the interview Thursday. “But we love Reddit – that’s the emotion we all have in common. And it’s important to us to treat Reddit with respect as we move forward.”

He added: “But there’s only so much I can tell – now we have to show it.”

Shakira shares some candid insights into her life with her two sons after her divorce Gerard Pique.

In a interview with Zane Lowewhich dropped on Wednesday, March 20, the 47-year-old singer spoke candidly about navigating motherhood as a single parent with her and Piqué’s boys, Milan, 11, and Sasha, 9.

Despite her hectic schedule, Shakira says she makes it a priority to spend quality time with her kids.

“I recorded a video, took pictures, prepared for a new video, prepared for the release of my album. So I go to sleep the next day around 9am – 9am, 11am,” she revealed.

Shakira shares two sons with her former partner, Gerard Piqué, and has been documenting their family life since becoming a mother in 2013. Shakira and the retired footballer welcomed their eldest son, Milan, in January 2013, followed by Sasha in January 2015. “Sometimes it’s very difficult when you can’t see your sons for a while […]

Sharing a glimpse into her hectic daily routine, the Grammy winner said: “Yesterday I came home at 7am. My children were already waiting for me, so I had breakfast with them and stayed with them. Sometimes I don’t even go to sleep until it’s their bedtime.”

Laughing, Shakira confessed that she “walks on fumes,” adding, “That’s what I do because I want to spend time with my kids. I put them to bed and then I pass out. It was intense, I was juggling everything.”

Shakira acknowledged the challenges of single parenthood, noting that it’s all about finding the right balance.

“It’s the first time I’ve had to deal with so much as a single mother,” she explained. “So it is a challenge. But they are great.”

Since Shakira and Gerard Piqué announced their split after 12 years, she has opened up about dealing with heartbreak. “This is really hard to talk about in person, especially since this is the first time I’ve ever discussed this situation in an interview,” the “Hips Don’t Lie” singer told Elle in a September 2022 profile. When Lowe asked if her boys understand that she has to work, Shakira confirmed that they are a “great support.”

“They understand how important making music is to me, how important it is to stay productive, to feel relevant in society, to find your own place in the community,” she said. “They understand that very well and support me.”

Reflecting on the time she spent in Barcelona when her children were younger, Shakira expressed the guilt she felt at being torn between motherhood and her career.

“Every time I had to be pulled into the studio to do my work, I felt like I was leaving my family unattended,” she recalls. “There were times when I didn’t really enjoy it [work]. I felt guilty, I felt torn.”

However, with time things have changed. “Now it feels completely different. Even though it’s more challenging because now I’m in charge of these two children, these two babies who are so dependent on me. And I’m a single mother, I don’t have a husband at home to help with anything,” she added.

Shakira and footballer Gerard Piqué were together for twelve years before announcing their eventual split. “[Gerard is] with me because he wants to be the person with Shakira, not the celebrity,” Shakira, who was first linked to the professional athlete in 2011, previously told Latina magazine in 2014. “There is real love, there is none […]

The “Hips Don’t Lie” singer went on to say that despite juggling work and home life, she is more committed to her music than ever.

“I want to tour, I want to perform [the fans] and be a better artist for them, and I also want to be a good example for my children. Those are the two biggest motivations I have now.”

Shakira and Piqué, 37, announced their separation in June 2022 after 11 years together. Earlier this month, Shakira admitted that she made major sacrifices for their family before the couple called it quits.

“For a long time I put my career on hold, to be next to Gerard, so that he could play football,” she says The Sunday times. “A lot of sacrifice was made for love.”

A family favorite pizza chain is expected to open 700 new locations, including 70 before the end of the year as part of major expansion plans.

Domino’s, which currently operates 1,300 branches in Britain and Ireland, has set its sights on running 2,000 stores by 2033.

The pizza restaurant said it expects to open 70 new branches by 2024, although it hasn’t said where they will be, so you’ll have to keep your eyes peeled.

The move to operating 2,000 stores in less than a decade could see the chain rival McDonald’s, which currently operates fewer than 1,400 restaurants in the UK and Ireland.

This obviously doesn’t take into account the number of stores McDonald’s could have by 2033.

Domino’s today announced its expansion plans in its 2023 annual results, with the brand’s sales totaling £1.57 billion.

The pizza chain said it aimed to generate a total turnover of £2.5 billion by 2033, after opening 61 new stores in 2023.

Commenting on today’s results, Andrew Rennie, CEO said: “Last year we continued to make strong strategic progress with 61 new store openings, as we expanded our
customers compelling value.

“These efforts have resulted in increased revenue and shareholder returns, with continued robust earnings growth.”

He added: “In December I set out a framework for accelerating long-term sustainable growth.

“After a great year for store openings in 2023, we are accelerating our growth and expect to have 1,600 stores in Britain and Ireland delivering £2.0 billion in system sales by 2028, and 2,000 stores by 2033.”

Mr Rennie also said Domino’s had plans to launch a £4 meal deal and a customer loyalty scheme.

He said the lunch offering will be launched in the “next few weeks”, while the loyalty program will be unveiled later this year.

The CEO said: “It’s not so much about the competition, but we know we are under-penetrated in some areas.

“In other countries Domino’s does 20 to 25% of its sales at lunchtime, but here it’s only around 15%. That’s why we’re launching a £4 lunch deal and cheeky pizzas and wraps, because we know people want a lighter option. .”

Domino’s planned store expansion comes at a time when other pizza chains are struggling on the high street.

Papa John’s, which currently operates more than 520 locations in the UK, plans to close 50 “underperforming” restaurants.

Domino’s is selling a new Cadbury treat, but it’s only available for a limited time

Earlier this month, Papa John’s said it would “undertake a comprehensive review of our UK restaurants to assess viability.”

A spokesperson told The Sun that the “strategic” closure of failing branches would give the company the opportunity to invest in branches that are doing well.

Pizza Hut has also languished on the high street, with the owner of its UK stores Heart locked in negotiations with Smart Group to refinance millions of pounds of debt with lenders in August last year.

At the time, accountants warned Pricewaterhouse Coopers (PwC) that the company’s dining franchise arm faced “material uncertainty that could cast significant doubt on its… ability to continue as a going concern”.

In the year to December 2022, Pizza Hut’s revenues rose from £130 million to £161 million, but the additional costs pushed its pre-tax loss to £3.6 million.

The chain is also in the process of paying back £73 million of debt, of which £31 million is due by April 2024.

It comes after the chain announced in 2020 that it would close 29 branches after being rescued from bankruptcy.

Why are retailers closing their stores?

RETAILERS have been feeling the pressure since the pandemic, as shoppers cut back on spending due to the rising cost of living.

High energy costs and the move to online shopping after the pandemic are also taking their toll, with many high street stores struggling to continue.

The high street has seen a slew of closures in the past year, with more to come.

The number of jobs lost in UK retail fell last year, but 120,000 people still lost their jobs, figures show.

Figures from the Center for Retail Research show that 10,494 stores will have closed for the last time in 2023 and 119,405 jobs will have been lost in the sector.

It was fewer stores than had been lost in recent years, and a decrease from the 151,641 jobs lost in 2022.

The centre’s director, Professor Joshua Bamfield, said the improvement is “less bad” than good.

While some big names on the high street were lost, including Wilko, many major companies had already gone bankrupt before 2022, the center said, such as Topshop owner Arcadia, Jessops and Debenhams.

“The cost of living crisis, inflation and rise in interest rates have prompted many consumers to tighten their belts, causing retail spending to fall,” said Prof Bamfield.

“Retailers themselves have faced rising energy and occupancy costs, staff shortages and declining demand, making rebuilding profits after extensive store closures during the pandemic exceptionally difficult.”

Besides Wilko, which employed around 12,000 people when it went bust, the biggest failures of 2023 include UK Flooring Direct, Planet Organic and Tile Giant.

The Center for Retail Research said most stores were closed as companies tried to reorganize and cut costs rather than face bankruptcy.

However, experts have warned that more bankruptcies are likely this year as consumers tighten their belts and borrowing costs for businesses soar.

According to official figures, about 14% of bankruptcies last year occurred in retail businesses.

In other news, Domino’s launched a pasta-inspired lasagna and carbonara pizza in February.

But the change left some pizza lovers confused, with one saying: “Clearly Domino’s has declared war on Italy.”

The pizza chain also launched Cadbury Creme Egg-themed cookies nationwide last month.

But if you want to get your hands on one, you’ll have to be quick: they’re only on sale until April 8.

Elon Musk opens the Grok AI chatbot this week

New Delhi: Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk said Monday that his artificial intelligence (AI) startup xAI will open source the AI chatbot Grok this week.

“This week @xAI will open source Grok,” Musk wrote on X.

He also said that OpenAI, run by Sam Altman, is a lie while responding to a comment in the post.

“OpenAI should do the same. At least, if they are ‘open’,” said one user.

To which Musk said: “OpenAI is a lie”.

Recently, the tech billionaire sued the ChatGPT maker and its CEO, alleging they breached their original contractual agreements surrounding AI.

OpenAI then hit back at Musk’s lawsuit, saying as the company discussed a for-profit structure to further its mission, “Musk wanted us to merge with Tesla or he wanted complete control.”

Later, Musk said he would drop the lawsuit if OpenAI changes its name to “ClosedAI.”

Last year, xAI Grok expanded to India and 46 other countries, including Australia, Canada, Malaysia, New Zealand, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Singapore.

The chatbot is currently available to subscribers of X Premium+, the highest subscription level of X. The microblogging platform has already rolled out access to its Grok AI (beta) to Premium+ subscribers in the US.

Troubled three-time former Mr Universe winner Calum von Moger has opened up about his mental health struggles since his younger brother tragically committed suicide a year ago.

Edward von Moger, 28, was filmed shouting at a couple about Covid vaccines through their car window along a Victorian road in August 2022.

The confrontational video showed a shirtless Von Moger hitting the couple’s side window and wing mirror with a boomerang before launching into an expletive-filled tirade about Covid-19 vaccines.

In March 2023, Edward mysteriously disappeared and was later found dead.

While people were searching for Edward, Calum showed up at the prestigious 2023 Arnold Classic bodybuilding competition in Ohio.

Famous bodybuilder Calum von Moger has spoken openly about his mental health struggles since his younger brother tragically committed suicide a year ago

He said it was one of the “toughest moments of his life” and then quickly returned to Australia.

“Everyone is dealing with a little bit of mental anxiety and unfamiliarity and things like that,” Von Moger told the podcast The Kris Fade Show.

“So I made it a point to come back to Australia and I knew my little brother, who I was close to, was going through some things.

“And I’m going to deal with it right away, but last year he basically took his own life. He died.’

Von Moger, who admits he himself struggles with drug addiction, revealed he has also thought about killing himself.

‘I almost did that. I almost put a bullet in my head. “I’ve come really close a few times,” he said.

“I had been talking to myself about it for a while. I kind of planned it. I thought, ‘I’ve just had enough.’ I had kind of prepared myself to do it.

‘What got me is that I think so intensely about my brother, thinking that he is alone in this black abyss, and I thought: I would rather trade this world to be with him – I don’t want him to be alone.

‘I kept telling everyone I was fine, that I wasn’t thinking about it. Then I called a few people and they were able to talk me out of it.’

Von Monger (pictured) posted a tribute to Ed, saying that since his death, not a day goes by that he doesn’t think of him

Von Monger posted a heartfelt online tribute to his brother Ed last week on the anniversary of his death.

‘I miss him a lot. Rest in paradise Ed,” he wrote.

‘Today marks one year since I lost my younger brother Eddie.

“Not a day has gone by that I haven’t thought about him, or what he might be up to if he were still here.

‘Living in a world without him has been my toughest battle yet, it hasn’t been easy and, to be honest, many times I wanted to quit and join him.

‘Dealing with so many emotions at once that I have never had to process before was difficult, I didn’t understand it. I felt deep sadness, depression, anger, fear, remorse, guilt, fear, and sometimes complete hopelessness.

‘Some days I would walk away for hours and just stare at the sky, other days I would just cry. Most of the time I wanted to be alone and not talk to anyone. It was heavy.’

Von Monger said talking about mental health issues is important and that anyone who reads his words should ask for help if they need it.

‘Talking about this helps and I think the key to moving forward is to be open and honest about what our feelings are telling us and not be afraid to talk about it.

“If you’re going through a tough time, it’s okay to ask for help. Or if you know someone who does, reach out to them to see how they are doing and ask if they are okay. And if they’re not, ask them to talk about it.”
