One-off energy voucher scheme opens TODAY – will you get help with the bills?

THOUSANDS of households are eligible for one-off energy vouchers that can help with their bills. Here’s how you can claim yours.

Warwickshire County Council has urged families struggling with their energy bills to apply for the support now.

The voucher program has been provided by the government to local authorities to help families and individuals most in need.

With the cost of living soaring, the fund hopes to help households with the costs of:

  • food
  • energy
  • water
  • essential matters related to the above
  • other essentials, if necessary

Families and households in Warwickshire can apply, whether they are users of prepayment meters, paying by direct debit or based on a receipt of an energy or water bill.

But the council has warned that all applications for the payment must be submitted by March 22.

Residents living in Warwickshire are advised to contact the Local Welfare Scheme team if they require confidential discussions about their situation.

Warwickshire County Councilor Heather Timms said: “We understand that the cost of domestic energy continues to pose ongoing challenges for households.

“Through the Household Support Fund we can provide some small relief and we urge residents of Warwickshire to get in touch as soon as possible to find out more about how to apply and to inquire about other forms of support that may be available are also available.”

Anyone currently entitled to a benefit claimant free school meal has also been automatically offered this support package and does not need to make any further application.

Are you eligible?

To apply for the one-off vouchers you must live in Warwickshire.

Anyone living in Warwickshire can apply if you need help with food, gas, electricity or household items.

You do not need to receive benefits to apply.

You can submit a request if you use prepayment meters, pay by direct debit or after receiving an invoice.

Warwickshire Council checks your identity, that you live in Warwickshire and what your income and expenses are.

Residents can apply online or call the council on 0800 4081448 or 01926 359182.

All applications for the payment must be submitted by March 22, 2024.

You may also qualify for free cash after hundreds of zip codes activate cold weather payments.

The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) has also handed out free cash to help struggling Britons during cold spells.

Eligible households will receive the money directly into their bank account within 14 days.

The cold weather payments are made in locations where residents experience persistent sub-zero weather.

Households can get £25 during each seven-day period of low temperatures from November to March 31.
