Culver’s death was announced on Wednesday by his agent and comes after the actor endured a long battle with ill health. His cause of death has not been announced.

They confirmed the actor’s passing in a statement, saying: ‘We are deeply saddened to confirm the passing of our friend and client Michael Culver.

‘A career spanning over 50 years with notable roles in Sherlock Holmes, A Passage to India, Secret Army and of course one of the most memorable death scenes from the Star Wars franchise.

It has been an honor to represent Michael over the last ten years and take him to some of the best Star Wars events in the UK and Europe.

‘A real highlight was taking Michael to Celebration in Chicago in 2019. He was speechless when he saw his line with almost 200 people waiting for him.

“We worked with Michael three weeks ago on his final home signing with our friends at Elite Signatures.

‘Michael passed away on Tuesday, February 27 at the age of 85. We miss him.’

Born in Hampstead and trained at the London Academy of Dramatic Art, Culver began his career on stage at the Dundee Repertory Theatre, where he appeared in 35 plays over a two-year period, before moving on to classic Shakespeare in The Old Vic and the more contemporary Ibsen in London’s West End.

His first uncredited film role came in 1963 with a fleeting appearance in the James Bond classic From Russia With Love. Two years later, he would return to the spy franchise, playing a Vulcan bomber crew member in Thunderball.

But his most lasting role on the big screen would come in 1980, with a role in the Irvin Kershner-directed Star Wars sequel The Empire Strikes Back.

The actor starred in an extensive cast as Captain Lorth Needa, a veteran fleet officer responsible for commanding the Avenger, an Imperial Star Destroyer within Darth Vader’s massive squadron.

Culver began his career in theater before switching to television and film in the early 1960s. Here he is seen in a 1965 episode of Court Martial

Senator Katie Britt’s team hopes viewers will find her response to President Biden’s State of the Union address as Reaganesque — but also deeply motherly.

Before President Biden even arrived at the Capitol on Thursday night, a close ally of the Alabama Republican sent a talking points document to conservative influencers, suggesting words of praise they could utter after Ms. Britt’s speech.

“She came across as the mother of America – she gets it,” the document helpfully suggests. ‘She’s one of us. That will be the takeaway for families when they see this.

But Ms. Britt also came across as Ronald Reagan, it was stated. “The conclusion of her border section was a real ‘Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall,’ moment,” said another talking point, referring to Reagan’s historic speech in Berlin.

Ms. Britt, who at 42 years old is the youngest Republican woman ever elected to the Senate, is on Donald J. Trump’s short list of potential running mates, according to two people with direct knowledge of the list.

The talking points compared her State of the Union response to some of the most famous oratorios in American history, calling it “reminiscent of Reagan’s message from that shining city upon a hill.”

Comparing Ms. Britt to Mr. Biden, the document suggested that “it wasn’t just the huge age difference/contrast between the two,” but that Ms. Britt “exposed a gap in relatability – a true generational schism.”

Mr. Biden is 81. Mr. Trump is 77.

A spokesperson for Ms. Britt did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

“His speech was tone deaf,” the interlocutors declared, before Mr. Biden or Ms. Britt had said a word. “Hers was the perfect pitch.”

A SAVVY mum has been praised after sharing a stunning staircase makeover for less than a tenner.

Mum-of-two Crystal Jewell took to TikTok to reveal how she remodeled her gray staircase on a budget, spending just £9 in total on the transformation.

According to the money-conscious parent – who also recently wowed fans with a £60 bathroom glow-up – even she couldn’t believe the makeover cost her so little.

As shared in the video on the popular platform, the stairs were initially covered with an old gray carpet, which Crystal decided to get rid of.

But instead of simply replacing the existing gray carpet with a brand new one, the do-it-yourselfer came up with an idea.

Once the old carpet was removed, Crystal painted the wooden stair floor below in a beautiful white color, also transforming the walls on the side.

When she was done, the mom explained in the comments, she applied strips of the new runner on top, while also letting some of the white shine through.

”I made it from a cut-out piece of carpet for £9 from my local carpet shop!

“I cut it into strips and then glued some black string to the edges,” Crystal wrote in the comments.

”Stair runner on a limited budget? Yes please,” she added in the caption.

The end result was stunning as fans of the makeover flocked to the comments to praise the crafty mum-of-two.

One chuckled and wondered if Crystal would also be willing to help with their DIY renovations.

‘Perfect for a neutral home,’ says the Home Bargain shopper as she tracks down the viral £19.99 concrete lamps in store

“Please come help me with my house.”

Another couldn’t believe the difference between Before and After, writing: “Looks amazing.”

“Thanks, looks fantastic,” someone else chimed in.

“Beautiful,” added a fourth.

Do you feel inspired to get creative? We recently wrote about a woman who transformed her ‘boring’ hallway thanks to a simple €5 purchase from IKEA.

Amazon fan Anna from Great Britain has proven that you don’t always have to spend thousands of dollars when it comes to a home makeover. Sometimes you can achieve amazing results even on a limited budget.

Instead of adding wooden panels to the wall or painting it a new color, Anna decided to stick on square mirrors she bought from IKEA.

According to Anna, the total cost was around £50, and the process was quite simple too.

The first step, she demonstrated in the video, was to measure the white wall and create a large rectangular shape in the center of it using tape.

She then went over it with a dark blue paint and began planning the placement of the mirror, following a 2cm guide and a spirit level.

“Measuring, marking and leveling as I go – this is so important to make sure the entire mirror is level,” the DIY expert noted in the video.

“The best advice is to start at the top and work your way down,” Anna warned.

”I completely messed up my measurements and there wasn’t even a 2cm gap between them.

”I ended up having to repaint part of the top of the block white – and it would have been so much easier to do this on the bottom than on the top.”

Despite the mini-blunder, the glow from the wall was stunning, as fellow interior design fans rushed to praise Anna.

One said: ‘Looks great. Also love the honesty that things didn’t go so well at first. It makes the experience more realistic for us.”

“Yes, I’m going to try it, it looks delicious,” said another.

The star, dubbed ‘Luke the Nuke’, earned £200,000 by finishing in second place and went on to win the Bahrain Masters, bagging a further £20,000 by beating Michael van Gerwen in the final.

Littler then returned to his hometown of Warrington for a subdued celebration of his 17th birthday and then defeated Humphries in the semi-finals of the Dutch Masters, but suffered defeat to MVG in the final.

He only turned professional in January and capped off a whirlwind few weeks with a first call-up and then a bow for the Premier League.

His exploits have impressed everyone, including legendary football manager Klopp.

The Reds boss compared his young players, who helped Liverpool beat Chelsea in the Carabao Cup final last weekend, to Littler.

However, the darts player appeared unmoved by that praise when asked about it after beating James Wade to reach the last 32 of the UK Open on Friday.

He said: “I gave it a like and moved on to the next video. That was literally another day in my life.”

Manchester United fan Littler added: “I watched the final and the young lads are doing well, but if he wants to compare them to me then he can.”

Littler averaged almost 102 and had four 100+ finishes while outscoring Wade 10-7. He is now favorite for the tournament after Michael van Gerwen’s opening night defeat to Austrian Mensur Suljovic.

On his chances of a first major title since joining the premier PDC Tour, Littler said: “I haven’t even thought about it, but I know that if my game is there every game, I don’t understand why I can’t win. It.

“It doesn’t matter to me who I play against. It’s what I dreamed of, playing in front of thousands every week, I’m just doing it at ease.”

Klopp had compared Liverpool youngster Jayden Danns to Littler after the 18-year-old was thrust into the spotlight due to the injury crisis the Merseysiders are currently experiencing.

He showed his potential by grabbing a brace in the Reds FA Cup fifth round against Southampton on Wednesday, with his manager saying: “It’s [a] A bit like the new darts sensation, it’s fine for tonight. Leave the boys in the corner tomorrow.

“Everyone who is with us, we have to have our moments, they will have more moments than we expect.”

He added: “[He’s an] exceptional talent.

“It is of course not normal for an 18-year-old boy to be as calm as you want. The second goal, calm as you like.

There was a rare point of consensus on the case brought by Georgia prosecutors against former President Donald J. Trump: Fulton County District Attorney Fani T. Willis likely made a mistake by having a romantic relationship with a colleague.

But that's where the similarity ends.

As people in Atlanta and its suburbs digested harrowing and emotional testimony, what they saw was not just Ms. Willis' behavior, but a test of their views on race, gender, justice and the city they call home.

Ms. Willis' harshest critics, supporters of the former president, relished what they saw as the mistake that could take her off the case — jeopardizing, if not entirely torpedoing, a prosecution that some legal experts are considered one of the most forceful against Mr. Willis. Trump.

The biggest fear of some of her supporters is that those critics are right.

“I wish she had made better decisions,” says Andrea Maia, a recent college graduate living in Atlanta, who is otherwise sympathetic to and supportive of Ms. Willis. “I wouldn't have done it.”

The testimony came as part of a hearing this week to decide whether Ms. Willis's romantic and financial relationship with Nathan Wade, an outside lawyer she hired to help lead the prosecution, amounted to a conflict of interest and whether she should be removed from the case had to be removed. .

The hearing — and the broader turbulence over the relationship — has been closely watched by many in Fulton County, who would form the jury in a trial and ultimately decide whether Ms. Willis, who is up for re-election, should remain in office.

But the response to her testimony – which she decided to give despite the doubts of some colleagues – has also generated sympathy and increased support, as many believe she should stay on the case and that her personal life should not be shown so vividly . .

“I think some people will probably walk away from this testimony with more confidence in Fani Willis,” said Adrienne Jones, a political science professor at Morehouse College in Atlanta, who watched the testimony and was disturbed by the spectacle surrounding it.

“She braved the breach and said I'm going to speak for myself here and tell you what's going on,” Professor Jones said. “Some people will respect that.”

Jessica Browne, who lives in Atlanta, said she was one of them.

She acknowledged that she knew little about Ms. Willis or the details of the case in which Mr. Trump and his allies were accused of conspiring to overturn his 2020 election loss in Georgia.

“I appreciated the way she defended herself,” Ms Browne, 42, said.

“She has not broken any laws,” she added. “Donald Trump did that.”

The stakes were high at the hearing, as many of Mr. Trump's opponents fear the prosecution could fall apart if Ms. Willis is ousted and the case is assigned to another prosecutor in Georgia, who could make changes to the case or could drop it entirely.

“I think a lot of people saw this case as one of the stronger, if not the strongest, case against Trump,” said Zachary Peskowitz, an associate professor of political science at Emory.

If Ms. Willis is removed from the case and progress is not made as Mr. Trump's critics hope, the outcome could have disastrous political consequences for Ms. Willis. “That will be devastating,” he said.

But even if Ms. Willis stays, some fear the attention paid to the relationship and allegations of impropriety could undermine the prosecution.

“It creates doubt in the minds of members of a Fulton County jury, it creates doubt in the prosecution process,” Professor Jones said. She added: “These are all negative points that distract our attention from the question of whether or not the former president and his colleagues have the right under Georgian law to engage in the type of behavior they engaged in.”

Chris Sandbach, a personal injury attorney, called the hearing a “political circus.” He said he did not believe there was “any objective evidence of any wrongdoing.”

“This was a public smear, for lack of a better word,” he said. “This is not defense, this is politics.”

But Scottie Dennis, Jr., 39, believed the entire prosecution was motivated by politics and hostility toward Mr. Trump.

“Everyone and his mother knows, as we say here in the South, that if he did not run for re-election, there would be no case against him,” said Mr. Dennis, a supporter of Mr. Trump who lives in Northwest Atlanta.

Ms. Willis' detractors who are enjoying the situation are not only political adversaries but also the kinds of enemies prosecutors create in their work, such as Latasha Kendrick, the mother of Yak Gotti, one of the rappers charged in a racketeering case that was filed by Ms. Willis against YSL, prosecutors have characterized the rap record label as a gang.

“She's about to get a taste of her own medicine,” Ms. Kendrick said as she watched the hearing from the Atlanta courthouse. “She doesn't look like the big bad wolf anymore.”

Some argue that Ms. Willis has faced additional scrutiny because of her race and gender.

“If she had not been a woman and black, I don't think she would have gone through this,” said Bishop Reginald T. Jackson, the presiding prelate of the African Methodist Episcopal Church in Georgia, who has been a vocal ally of Ms. Willis and has been praying and counseling with her privately in recent weeks.

“What it was all about was distraction and delay,” he said. “I think it's time to move on.”

Kamina Pinder, a law professor at Emory University, agreed that Ms. Willis should not be disqualified, but found her actions — including having a relationship with a lawyer who worked for her — troubling.

“Everything she does is scrutinized, so it's just bizarre that she's doing this,” Professor Pinder said. “As a Black woman, I know there are unique challenges when you are in a position of power, but that does not excuse behavior that was questionable and unethical.”

Devon Rogers, 37, a musician who recently moved to Atlanta from Memphis, said circumstances seem to confirm that romance can give way to unwise choices.

He had seen questions in news reports about Mr. Wade's qualifications for the position. “I don't know if that's true,” he said. “But how can she even risk putting him there?”

Her actions, he said, could damage the case and provide Trump's lawyers with material that could help him avoid a conviction.

'Should she be disqualified? I can't say,” Mr. Rogers said. “But I think she's been her own worst enemy.”

Many Republicans lined up Friday to condemn President Vladimir V. Putin of Russia after Russian authorities reported the death of Aleksei A. Navalny, the outspoken opposition leader.

But Nikki Haley went further, using criticism of Putin to attack former President Donald J. Trump, her rival in the Republican primaries, for his past comments praising Putin.

“Putin did this. The same Putin who praises and defends Donald Trump,” wrote Ms. Haley, a former governor of South Carolina who served as Trump’s ambassador to the United Nations. on the social media platform X on Friday.

She was referring to comments Mr Trump made in 2015, during his first attempt to become president he told ABC's George Stephanopoulos that: “In fairness to Putin, you say he killed people. I didn't see that.”

Russian authorities announced Friday that Mr. Navalny, an anti-corruption activist who was openly critical of Mr. Putin and served multiple sentences that would likely have kept him in prison until 2031, had died in a prison inside the Arctic Circle. President Biden said Friday afternoon that U.S. officials did not have a full understanding of the circumstances of the situation, but that he believed “there is no doubt that Navalny's death was a result of something that Putin and his thugs did.”

Mr. Trump has not yet publicly commented on Mr. Navalny's death, prompting Ms. Haley to also take advantage of his silence. In another message to X, she wrote: “Putin killed his political opponent and Trump didn't say a word after saying he would encourage Putin to invade our allies. However, he has posted more than 20 times on social media about his legal drama and fake polls.”

Since reports of Mr. Navalny's death surfaced Friday morning, Mr. Trump has posted messages on Truth Social criticizing Fani T. Willis, the prosecutor in his Georgia election interference case; said the world had “experienced misery, destruction and death” during Mr Biden's term in office; and promoted his appearance at “Sneakercon” in Philadelphia on Saturday. But as of Friday afternoon, there was no longer any mention of Mr. Putin or Mr. Navalny.

Ms. Haley has become increasingly critical of Mr. Trump's approach to foreign policy, and in particular his attitude toward Mr. Putin. She told voters at recent stops in South Carolina that Mr. Trump had “sided with a criminal,” after the former president said in South Carolina last weekend that he might “encourage” Russia to attack NATO allies who have made arrears to the army. alliance.

Her campaign released a statement later on Friday that attempted to further connect Trump's previous praise with his recent comments.

“Donald Trump continues to side with Vladimir Putin – a man who kills his political opponents, takes American journalists hostage and has never hidden his desire to destroy America,” Ms Haley said. “Trump continues to side with Putin over our allies and our military service members.”

Claire is part of 329.6k people on TikTok sharing her home update under the hashtag #homerenovation.

The hashtag page is full of videos sharing their clever hacks on how they managed to transform their home.

And Claire's managed to grab a lot of attention, but it was the way she did her makeover that stunned people.

She had her doors on the inside of her house repainted black, but instead of using a paintbrush, Claire used a tanning mitt.

Claire said: “I love a good DIY hack, you don't need a huge budget to add luxury doors to your home.

“I used a Home Bargains tanning mitt with a gray undercoat and then a black eggshell top coat, perfect.”

She holds a tray containing the paint with her right hand, then applies the paint to the door while wearing the glove with her left hand.

Claire starts with a gray paint as an undercoat, before applying a black layer – and with both paint colors she uses the tanning mitt.

The video attracted a lot of attention and many rushed to the comments section to share their thoughts.

DIY fans are all jumping on the black bandwagon, with #blackinterior notching 88 million views on TikTok.

But interior design guru Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen has warned that this trend should be treated with caution.

Having an all-black house “can feel like entering a rabbit hole or Mordor in The Lord Of The Rings,” and Laurence urges interior design fans to “choose very wisely.”

Interior tips for black

Laurence believes DIY enthusiasts should avoid black on black to prevent their homes from hiding furniture.

If you have black accessories, he advises people to look at a white room instead.

Laurence also warns interior design fans to be aware of black floors, as they require a lot of maintenance and can give the impression that the floor is a big dark hole.

What other trends should we avoid?

According to Laurence, there are five other interior design trends that DIY fans should avoid when decorating their homes.

This includes gallery walls, electric fire walls, legless sofas, gray kitchens and TVs as a focal point.

The mastermind behind the Kardashians’ incredibly lucrative brands has been dubbed ‘amazing’ as she made her first appearance as the new investor on Dragons Den.

Emma Grede, 41, who grew up in east London, went from a college dropout to running some of the most successful companies in the world was a guest investor on the BBC One series on Thursday.

Emma, who co founded Khloe Kardashian’s wildly popular jeans company Good American, and Kim’s shapewear line SKIMS, was branded ‘amazing’ by viewers.

Viewers have taken to X, formerly known as Twitter, to praise the business woman with some saying they are ‘proud’ of her success.

One person wrote: ‘Emma Grede was absolutely fantastic tonight on #DragonsDen and as someone who used to know her personally before she moved to LA I can tell you what a genuine amazing woman she is. Go Emma!’

Now a very successful multimillionaire, the east London-born mother-of-four has humble beginnings, leaving school at 15 before getting a job in fashion and pitching a fashion brand to Kris Jenner at fashion week.

Another said: ‘So proud of my former client Emma Grede on Dragons Den tonight. She was absolutely awesome!’

Someone else wrote: ‘Emma thought you were a fantastic breath of forest air on the den tonight all your advice was so helpful also, great job.’

A fourth wrote: ‘@EmmaGrede You was an absolute superstar in the Den Emma and made a really good investment on your first appearance, loved it and hope to see you more on the show. Worth watching till the end.’

In last night’s episode Emma teamed up with Hertfordshire-based entrepreneur, Titi, who is hoping to grow her Afro hair care business Ori Lifestyle.

Titi was looking for a £60,000 investment for 15 percent of her business and Emma swooped in asking for a 25 percent stake in the company for all of the money.

Before taking a breath, Titi excitedly accepted Emma’s offer before Deborah Meaden got a chance to make an offer.

Before her pitch Titi said: ‘I have a dragon in mind, I learnt Emma Grede is going to be there, she is the ultimate, it would be insane if she came on board.’

Emma also became the chief product officer of Kardashian matriarch Kris Jenner’s cleaning product company, Safely, in 2021.

So how did she do it? Well, the business mogul has just shared some of her top tips to creating a booming business to Jay Shetty on his On Purpose podcast, while reflecting on her journey from being a struggling girl without a degree to becoming the ultimate powerhouse.

The self-made entrepreneur opened up about the most important steps that she took to rise to the top on the show, as well as the vital advice that she has for others looking to follow in her footsteps.

She also shared the strict rules that she follows when running her vast array of businesses on the podcast, which originally referred to her as the Kardashians’ ‘secret business weapon’ in the episode title but has since changed it.

Emma was born and raised in Plaistow, east London. Her dad was a Jamaican and Trinidadian immigrant.

Her parents split when she was young, which meant her mother was left to raise her and her siblings alone while struggling to make ends meet.

The entrepreneur explained that growing up in an area ‘void of aspiration’ drove her to want to make a better life for herself.

‘[As a kid] I didn’t know anyone who owned their own business. Where I come from, everyone worked for someone else,’ she said on the Jay Shetty podcast.

‘Jobs were seen as exactly that, just [jobs]. There was no career, work wasn’t purposeful.

‘You got up, went to work, found it miserable, and tried to get out of there as fast as you could.

‘For me, I thought there had to be a better way to live. Shouldn’t there be some excitement and enjoyment?’

She said her ‘sense of ambition’ stemmed from her hardworking mother, who raised her to have ‘huge respect’ for everyone, no matter where they came from, and to ‘really value herself and her goals.’

‘My mum would say, “Listen Emma, you’re not better than anyone else nor is anyone better than you,”‘ she continued.

‘I’ve never felt less-than others [because of my poverty-stricken childhood]. I always felt that if I worked hard enough and I really put everything into it, that I could achieve. I never had a sense of, “I can’t do it.”‘

Emma dropped out of school when she was only 15 to pursue her career, and for years, she admitted that she was terrified that her lack of education would stop her from succeeding.

But in the end, she said it only pushed her to want to work harder and pushed her to want to prove herself even more.

Emma told Jay that it's important to embrace your past and to not let the hardships that you've overcome make you feel like you can't succeed or that you're less than anyone else

‘I dropped out of school when I was 15 and that always left me with this inferiority complex of feeling like I wasn’t educated enough,’ she admitted.

‘For so long, that held me back until I realised no, that’s my fuel. That’s what makes me [who I am].’

Emma told Jay  that it was important to embrace your past and to not let the hardships that you’d overcome make you feel like you can’t succeed or that you’re less than anyone else.

In addition, she stressed the importance of not judging others for the things they’ve gone through.

‘I grew up with such a respect for those around me, regardless of where they came from or what they were doing,’ she added.

‘As a kid, I was surrounded by a lot of people who were doing what they had to do to get through the day. I never looked down on anyone.’

Before becoming a booming businesswoman, Emma spent an entire decade trying her hand at many different career paths.

‘We have this idea that everything happens overnight, but I’ve been grafting away [at this] since I was 12,’ she said. ‘I have worked every job imaginable.’

She spent time delivering newspapers, working at a deli, and running the cash register at a clothing shop as a teen.

She told Jay that she worked her absolute hardest at every single job she had – even if it was something that she didn’t think pertained to her long-term goals.

And now, she had no regrets about her journey – since she said that every opportunity, good and bad, was a learning experience for her.

‘When I worked in that deli and I was making a sandwich, I was gonna make you the best turkey sandwich that you’ve had in your life,’ she shared.

‘I took pride in everything, and I took a huge amount of learning from everything I did. I would think, “One day, this might be useful to me.”

‘I think about all of those experiences being very formative. I had a lot of unenjoyable jobs that I had to get through but I never let it put me off.

She said she discovered 'what she was good at' through each and every odd job that she worked, which ultimately helped her discover 'what kind of leader she wanted to be'

‘Never stay in your line,’ Emma recommended. ‘Almost all of my growth has come from stepping out of whatever lane I was in at the time’

‘I always saw them as a means to the end. What does hard work actually mean? It means getting up and thinking about the end goal when you’re nowhere even close to it but you can see a pathway.’

She said she discovered ‘what she was good at’ through each and every odd job that she worked, which ultimately helped her discover ‘what kind of leader she wanted to be.’

Her big break came when she landed an internship with Gucci in 2001 – when she was almost 20 years old.

She then got a job at Inca Productions, producing various fashion shows and events for the company, before launching her first business in 2008, a London-based talent and marketing agency called ITB Worldwide.

Through ITB, she scored a partnership with Natalie Portman and Dior. ITB also helped her link up with the Kardashians – she worked on Kendall Jenner’s My Calvins ad campaign and met Kris Jenner during a Paris Fashion Week event.

After growing close with Kris, she pitched the idea of Good American to the momager, who thought it would be a perfect fit for Khloé.

The two then launched the jeans brand in October 2016, and it racked up $1 million in sales on its first day – reportedly the biggest denim launch in apparel history.

Emma teamed up with Kim to create SKIMS in 2018, and in July, Forbes valued the company at $4 billion.

While it took a long time for her to find success, Emma insisted that she stayed positive the entire time – and never let her failures or set backs derail her.

‘I’m a naturally positive person, I am always a person who thinks about the glass being half-full,’ she dished.

While reminiscing about her road to success, Emma recalled one of the worst pieces of advice she ever received: ‘Stay in your lane.’

In fact, she recommended that people do the exact opposite of that – since almost all of her achievements came during the times that she decided to try something new.

‘Never stay in your lane,’ she said. ‘Almost all of my growth has come from stepping out of whatever lane I was in at the time.’

Emma explained that when she started her first business at age 26, she had ‘nothing to lose’ since she was already at an extremely low point.

She recalled living in a tiny apartment with no refrigerator while working a ‘non-inspiring job’ and feeling ‘frustrated’ over how little money she was making.

‘I wasn’t being paid enough where I worked, I felt like I wasn’t getting valued for what I put in,’ she explained.

‘I thought, “How could I lose?” I could always go and get another similarly not-inspiring job [if it didn’t work out].

‘I was miserable, but I saw a better life for myself. I knew no one was going to take a chance on me so I had to take a chance on me.’

She explained that while she knew taking a chance like that could be scary, it was important that you never let the ‘fear of failing’ stop you from trying.

‘You have to not be too afraid to lose,’ she continued. ‘The truth is, I have lost and failed more times than I succeeded but people don’t talk about that.

‘It’s not in the articles and I don’t post that on Instagram but that’s just the facts. I’ve made so many mistakes before I got here.

‘I’ve embarrassed myself and let people down. I’ve had lots of failures and things that didn’t work out and at the time it feels like the end of your career but it’s not.

‘I always tell myself, “I’ve survived worse” and then I dust myself off. A lot of that comes from my upbringing – I think I’m pretty good at getting through things.’

Even now, Emma said she embraced ‘fear’ because it meant she was pushing herself.

‘If I am not a little bit scared at what I’m doing than I’m not growing or moving forward,’ she added.

She explained that she spent years pitching ideas to people that were unsuccessful - but despite hearing no over and over again, she 'never doubted herself.' She's seen with Kris and Khloe in 2016

‘I find myself looking for fear, like what can I do that will scare me? I know how to make jeans, I can make you fantastic knickers all day long, but branching out and trying to do something else is the stuff that keeps us as humans growing.

‘I spent such a huge part of my life being crippled by fear of failing. If I’m not a little bit scared, now I find myself looking for it because I know I need that fire in my belly. It’s in those moments of challenge or difficulties that you grow the most.’

She explained that she spent years pitching ideas to people that were unsuccessful – but despite hearing no over and over again, she ‘never doubted herself.’

‘I never doubted myself or any of my ideas, I just thought I hadn’t found the right people yet,’ she explained.

‘I don’t think success should be easy. When you’re doing something that’s new and unproven, it’s supposed to be hard. I never let it get to me. It’s fine, it’s part of it.’

She reminded listeners that if someone ‘doesn’t understand’ your vision ‘from the start,’ they ‘won’t be a good partner’ down the line anyway.

In addition, the businesswoman said that you should never be ashamed of feeling ‘ambitious’ and ‘confident’ or of putting yourself first.

She added: ‘You can be unashamedly ambitious and focused on what it is that you need while also being an inspiring and empathic leader who lifts other people up.

‘Be selfish. You have to think about yourself because no one else is thinking about that for you.

‘There’s no other way to get ahead and do what you want to do. You have to put your needs and wants and ambitions first because no one is gonna do that for you.’

Emma explained that everyone made mistakes, so rather than ‘beating yourself up’ if you did something wrong, it was important to ‘move forward and keep evolving.’

She admitted that she had moments where she had ‘not been proud of her behavior,’ but added that she was always willing to ‘hold her hands up and work on’ changing.

‘I’m practicing everyday at who I want to be,’ she shared.

‘I never beat myself up about my past, who I’ve been, my background, or where I came from because I know I’m constantly moving and evolving.

‘If you’re not working on yourself you’re not really living. The purpose of my life is to explore how I can be the best version of me and I don’t just mean in business.

‘It takes work and it takes practice and I don’t get it right every single day. I’ve had all this success with the businesses but I’ve also had a huge awakening about who I am as a person and who I’m supposed to be.

‘I really feel like those are things I’m still exploring and I will be until I die. I’m always in learning mode.’

Mother-of-four Emma said one of her goals was to try to end the ‘stereotype’ that ‘society has set up’ that women couldn’t be successful in their careers while also being moms

Emma said one of her goals is to try to end the ‘stereotype’ that ‘society has set up’ that women can’t be successful in their careers while also being moms.

She and husband Jens Grede, 45, shared four children together: Grey, Lola, and twins Lake and Rafferty.

She admitted that becoming a mom ‘changed everything’ for her because it suddenly gave her a new ‘reason’ for wanting to succeed.

‘It had never been more clear to me until that moment. I was like, “OK, now real life starts. I have a reason to do what I’m doing now,”‘ she recalled of giving birth.

She reminded her listeners that you could be an amazing mother and a powerful mogul at the same time.

‘Society has set it up that you’re one or the other – you’re either putting on your heels and banging out the door and hardly see your kids or you’re this really sweet mom. But I’m actually both,’ she said.

‘There are these misconceptions about what women are allowed to be. Men can be in the office killing the deal and be this incredible dad throwing the football on the weekend, they’re fully allowed and it’s fine but for women it’s not so fine.

‘So much of what I do is trying to be honest about me and how I operate so I can dispel a lot of those myths. We’re not one dimensional. We can be so many different things’.

Emma also stressed the importance of starting your business with inclusivity and not making it an after thought - and bringing in people with as many different backgrounds as possible

Emma also stressed the importance of starting your business with inclusivity and not making it an after thought – and bringing in people with as many different backgrounds as possible

One thing that Emma takes pride in is inclusivity across all of her brands – making sure their products cater to people of all sizes, shapes, and skin tones.

‘When I started Good American, it was actually a reaction to the idea that so many women – women of color, plus size women – were completely left out of the fashion conversation,’ she said on the podcast. ‘Why is their dollar any less valuable than anyone else’s?

‘I had worked in marketing for 15 years and I had grown this incredible agency and I had done castings and put projects and collaborations together for the biggest and best brands in the whole world.

‘[But I realized], I had been part of falsifying an image of inclusivity. The products didn’t work for anyone over a certain size and the board rooms were typically made up of white men making the decisions for women.

‘I thought to myself, “There must be a better way to start a company.” I think about customers in a way that most people don’t.

‘When I talk about this idea of inclusivity and diversity being a superpower in business it’s not something that I just say, it’s something that I do.’

She encouraged other creators to start their companies with inclusivity from the beginning and not make it an after thought.

She dished: 'When I talk about this idea of inclusivity and diversity being a superpower in business it's not something that I just say, it's something that I do'

She dished: ‘When I talk about this idea of inclusivity and diversity being a superpower in business it’s not something that I just say, it’s something that I do’

‘It’s such an under thought about part of business, people usually bolt it on in the end but I’m like no, “It’s right where you start,”‘ she added.

‘It starts with the inception of the products, make 32 sizes and make nine different shades.

‘It’s in the very beginnings of what you create. And then you can dress it up and make it look nice and put the right branding on it but it starts way earlier than that.’

According to Emma, the key is bringing in people from as many different backgrounds as possible.

‘A lot of big brands make mistakes that have come across as insensitive, racist, misogynistic, but that’s just where a decision is made,’ she added.

‘A company isn’t inherently racist, like a whole company, it’s just that the decision process is flawed, there’s not enough people of different backgrounds in the room.

‘I know that the more people you bring to the table – and I’m not just talking about race here, I’m talking about age, education, the full gambit – the better the company will be.’

Emma added the running a business is stressful so you have to always remind yourself of what you're grateful for and find joy in the little things

Emma added the running a business is stressful so you have to always remind yourself of what you’re grateful for and find joy in the little things

Emma explained that stress management was vital to making it in the world of business.

‘My life is a series of problems, from the minute I wake up to the minute I go to bed. The stress level is unbelievable,’ she revealed.

But she has learned to get by ‘religiously’ reminding herself of what she is ‘grateful’ for and enjoying the ‘little things in life.’

‘I have trained myself to focus on the great stuff in my life,’ she added. ‘I feel like there’s going to be so much noise whether I like it or not.

‘I could be overwhelmed every day by what’s going on around me but I am someone who truly stops to smell the roses.

‘I can find good, happiness, and joy in everything and I really make it a point to do that everyday.’

She admitted that the hardest part of her ‘working with extremely high profile businesses’ where ‘everything they do is scrutinized.’

But she said the ‘responsibility’ and ‘expectations’ to represent ‘a group of people who have been historically left out and marginalized from these conversations and opportunities’ only ‘fuels her’ more.==

She also urged people not to get complicit even after they find success, explaining that she was 'fueled every day' by her competition

She also urged people not to get complicit even after they find success, explaining that she was ‘fueled every day’ by her competition

Emma urged people not to get complicit even after they find success, explaining that she was ‘fueled every day’ by her competition.

‘I look at everything,’ she shared. ‘I look at every competitor, I know everything everyone else is doing.

‘And I think that natural inquisitiveness is part of what keeps me [going]. At the end of the day, I just want to win and I don’t feel satisfied.

‘Yeah it’s been a couple of years of success but I don’t think that’s the end goal. The end goal is to build generationally defining businesses and that doesn’t happen quickly.’

She explained that it was vital not to big let numbers ‘get to your head’ and to focus on a more important ‘end goal’ than just making a lot of sales.

‘It’s about taking the foundations of what we built, not sacrificing any of your principles, and still being able to grow and thrive,’ she added.

‘It actually gets more difficult the bigger you get.

‘I love what I do, I genuinely really love it and I just want to keep getting better at it.’

Married At First Sight fans have praised groom Timothy Smith after he refused to take part in a 'toxic' photo ranking challenge during Tuesday's episode.

The 51-year-old business owner was tasked with 'ranking' current brides based on physical attractiveness to give his wife Lucinda Light, 43, an idea of what he liked in a woman.

However, Tim put his foot down and told Lucinda that the challenge made him feel uncomfortable and he refused to participate in it.

“It's nonsense, I think it's an unfair, unrealistic task. I don't want to do it,” he told her, emphasizing that he felt uncomfortable because many of his co-stars were significantly younger than him.

'It's not age appropriate. “I'm already ten years older than Lucinda, but these are twenty to thirty year olds, I would look like the biggest creep walking around,” he said.

'Tim is without a doubt the best man they have had at MAFS. His response to the ranking challenge was perfect,” a second added.

“Well done Timothy for saying no to the ranking task. It is demeaning and only exists to create drama between the couples,” a third person interjected.

Timothy is a real estate magnate and gin distillery owner from Melbourne.

He works with Lucinda, a master of ceremonies and wedding celebrant from Byron Bay.

The couple hit it off after having a truly emotional wedding ceremony in which he confessed that his entire family had died, shocking her with his raw honesty and vulnerability.
