Taylor Swift's Kate Middleton-inspired dress and gloves at the Grammys are driving royal fans wild

Taylor Swift sent royal fans into a frenzy when she appeared to take style inspiration from the Princess of Wales at last night's Grammys.

The pop sensation, 34, made history last night when she became the first artist to ever win four Album of the Year awards – having previously collaborated with Stevie Wonder, Frank Sinatra and Paul Simon for good measure.

For the 66th annual Grammy Awards, the singer — who announced her new album The Tortured Poets Department at the ceremony — wore a strapless white dress with a square neck and a thigh-high slit.

As she arrived on the red carpet, Taylor was pictured wearing a pair of black velvet opera gloves, which reminded royal watchers of Kate Middleton's outfit from last year's BAFTAs in London.

Last February, the Princess of Wales, 42, tried on an old white Alexander McQueen one-shoulder dress for the awards and completed her outfit with black opera gloves.

Shortly after Taylor arrived at the awards, royal fans on X, formerly known as Twitter, commented on how similar the pop star's outfit was to Kate's 2023 BAFTA look.

One gushed: 'Taylor Swift is giving Catherine, Princess of Wales vibes and looking spectacular!'

“Taylor knows red carpet style when she sees it,” another added.

A third said: 'As soon as I saw her I thought of the Princess of Wales. [It is] Sun [fire] Look.'

“Two beautiful, stylish women twinning,” a fourth replied.

Meanwhile, a fifth claimed: 'Taylor Swift got inspiration from Princess Catherine for her Grammy outfit.'

In November 2023, Prince William joked that he would tour with Ronnie Wood when “Taylor Swift is here.”

Prince William, 41, and The Rolling Stones member, 76, met in London at the Tusk Conservation Awards, which recognize leading wildlife pioneers, with both men being long-term supporters of the event's organisers, Africa-based charity Tusk Trust.

Wood said after his chat with the future king: 'We were talking about the tour and I said “come on, you gotta go on tour” and we were talking about the new album and stuff. said William [he would] if we could get Taylor Swift there.”

Minutes later, Taylor – who also earned her fourth Album of the Year during the show – true to her word – shared the racy cover of her upcoming eleventh studio album, which saw her lying on a bed in black underwear and a sheer black top, making sure caused her Instagram page to temporarily go offline.

Swift started her speech by saying it was her 13th award – a number she considers lucky.

“Okay, this is my 13th Grammy. That's my lucky number. I don't know if I ever told you that.'

“I want to thank the members of the Recording Academy for voting this way, but I know the way the Recording Academy voted is a direct reflection of the passion of the fans.”

Minutes after she left the stage, the artwork for the new album was shared on her Instagram, with the caption: 'All's fair in love and poetry… New album THE TORTURED POETS DEPARTMENT. From April 19 [white heart emoji].'

She also posted a photo of a handwritten note that read, “And so I come into evidence / My tarnished escutcheon / My muses, acquired like bruises / My talismans and charms / The tick, tick, tick of love bombs / My veins of pitch black ink / All is fair in love and poetry…'

She signed the text with: 'Sincerely, The Chairman of the Martyred Poets Section.'

The album announcement received more than 7 million likes in just one hour.
