Tina Knowles came to daughter Beyonce‘s defense after the internet wondered if she lightened her skin for her Renaissance premiere.

“I came across this today and decided to post it after seeing the whole stupid, ignorant self, hating racist statements about hair, lightening her skin and wearing platinum hair wanting to be white,” Knowles, 69, wrote via Instagram on Tuesday, November 28, alongside a video montage of Beyoncé, 42. “She’s doing a movie called The Renaissancewhere the whole theme is silver with silver hair, a silver carpet and suggested silver attire and you bozos decide she’s trying to be a white woman and bleaching her skin?’

The clip began with a photo of the singer from the screening of her concert documentary on Saturday, November 25, in which she rocked platinum blonde hair and a sparkling silver Versace dress. Atop the photo, a series of comments appeared claiming that Beyoncé’s skin looked lighter and asking “why she looks so white.”

“How sad it is that some of her own people perpetuate the stupid narrative with hatred and jealousy,” Knowles continued. “Duh, she wore silver hair to match her silver dress like a fashion statement clown. ALIEN Superstar duh!”

In her lengthy message, Knowles shared her disappointment for those who behaved “ignorantly.” She pointed out that countless “beautiful talented black celebrities” have sported platinum hair since Etta James and wondered if the same trolls have accused them of “wanting to be white.” Knowles confessed that she was fed up with the double standard when it came to Beyoncé.

“I’m tired of people attacking her. Every time she does something that she works her butt off for and is a statement of her work ethic, talent and resilience, you sad little haters come out of the woodwork,” she wrote. “Jealousy and racism, sexism, double standards, you perpetuate those things. Instead of celebrating a sister or just ignoring her if you don’t like her. I’m tired of you losers.”
