Police closed Tower Bridge after activists lit flares and disrupted traffic in central London on Saturday.

Police officers have arrived en masse in an attempt to keep things under control amid the carnage caused by a protest.

Early reports claim that pro-Palestinian activists are at the heart of the protest, as demands for a ceasefire in Gaza continue.

A City of London police statement said: “Tower Bridge is currently closed due to protest activity. Officers are on scene.”

The bridge has since been “reopened”, the force added.
