Two 12-year-old boys have been found guilty of stabbing a stranger to death with a machete in a Wolverhampton park.

One of the boys who killed Shawn Seesahai claimed he got the machete used in the killing from “a friend of a friend,” but police said there was evidence he had searched for knives online.

Jurors unanimously convicted the pair, who are believed to be the youngest boys to commit a knife-related murder in Britain today.

The youngsters are also believed to be the youngest children to have since been found guilty of murder Robert Thompson And Jon Venablesboth 11 years old, were found guilty of the murder of a two-year-old child in 1993 James Bulger.

A trial period of one month Nottingham Crown Court was told Seesahai was punched on the shoulder by the smaller of the two defendants, who ‘often’ carried a machete with a 42.5cm blade, before being punched, kicked, stepped on and shot with the weapon was ‘chopped’.

Relatives of both the victim and the defendants cried and hugged each other in the public gallery as jurors found both boys guilty of murder and one guilty of possessing a bladed article.

In an interview released after the verdicts, Seesahai’s parents, Suresh and Maneshwary, said they will never be able to get over the loss of their 19-year-old son, who always told them he would “shine” and for would take care of them.

Suresh Seesahai said for the first time since their son’s murder that he feels sorry for the killers’ parents and only hopes that “justice” is served for his son.

Detective Inspector Damian Forrest, who led the investigation, said: ‘The weapon was a large machete which in fact no one who does not need it as a tool should have any reason to possess.

‘Originally it was obviously going to be a garden tool.

‘Although the facts of this case mean that we cannot say with certainty how that weapon came into the suspects’ possession, there is evidence that one of them attempted to buy knives on the internet.’
